Default O達ryant getting tougher, Henderson speaks

Quote:
As we were standing on the baseline of the practice gym yesterday watching the end of Gerald Henderson and some other inconsequential guys work out, who comes wandering in but Patrick O達ryant and Quincy Douby.

And after we got done chatting with Henderson and if I had my druthers they壇 draft him just because he痴 a good interview down the other end of the floor, what do we see but Marc Iavaroni, Alex English, Alvin Williams, Eric Hughes and Micah Nori putting them through their paces.

The best drill?

Iavaroni and English, with those big arm pads on you see worn by dog trainers or lion tamers, smacking the hell out of O達ryant as the rail-thin centre took entry passes in the post.

Toughness is not an attribute usually associated with Patrick; if the Raptors can instill some maybe he becomes something more than a 13th man on a 15-man roster.

Quote:
So why like the Henderson kid so much?

Well, here痴 one: We asked him about his 都tock and where he might fit in this draft:

鉄tock? It痴 a mythical thing. It痴 not something real. That痴 how I look at it. You just prepare for each workout and try your hardest. You see what happens after.

迭eally, when it comes down to it, it痴 about how each team feels about you, not how people are talking about you or what kind of player people will think you will be or stuff like that.

I like that kind of answer, sort of goes to how I feel about this whole draft process.

POB showed some promise at the end of the season but I dont know if it compensates the fact that he was completely passive for most of his time in the Raptors. I imagine he is staying for sure anyway so you can say this is decent news.

The fact that the two guys coming into work are fringe guys makes me wonder if they are getting a last look at them before deciding to move them or just let them go. Coinciding with the draft, it would seem they want to know just what the needs are for sure.

where is this so callled POB promise i;ve been hearing about?
is it because he blocked like 2 shots ?
guy showed nothing, other then that he's a lazy mutt that just stands there like a dog. Brings no intesity, has no game. he'll be out of the league in no time, just my opinion

i can not stand POB. even the look on his face, guy doesn't have a clue whats going on around him.

Actually, I thought he had some good moments where his length was a real asset in the lane on D, he also showed he could shoot from outside and get up and down the court well for a 7 footer, which on a team looking to push the tempo can't hurt.

He's not going to be an All-Star, or even the first guy off the bench, but he's still young and obviously the Raps brass see something in him that us armchair GM's don't.

I really liked his awareness of help defense at the end, and his length made that awareness pay off. He changed quite a few shots. If he could bring some of that on a regular basis, then guys like AP could calm down with overhelping all the time.

he's like 22 and takes the NBA for granted.
let him go BC, get a young player with more promise.

I like POB actually, I may be the only one on the forum. Obviously he's not our best player but he's definitely got some skill to him and he's still young. Atleast he's still a prospect with a chance at a future, guys like Jake Voskuhl are the kind of guys we need to cut and never get back on this team.

I don't like POB either. I just don't for some reason especially seeing that not interested look on his face.

I like Henderson though. I wouldn't mind taking him with the 9th pick, unlike some other player that doesn't want to play here *cough* DeRozan *cough*

No seven footer with POB's athletic ability will be hard-pressed to find a job in this league. There are always teams who will bite.

Everyone who hates Patrick O'Bryant and wants the Raptors to let him go make it sound like the Raptors have any bigs that are actually decent bigs outside of Bosh and Bargs. I'm sure that if a more intrigiuging player comes along then Colagenlo would gladly dump him. Even if he is on the team it's not like he's the ultimate cap killer (the award goes to Marcus Banks) or will play significant minutes of a game. For now, he's there because the Raptors don't have that many options and he's shown some promise. What's wrong with that?

Edit: I like the head on Henderson's shoulders. Seems like he'd make a really good role player in the NBA.

pob reminds of camby a bit - he has the tools to be an excellent defender. He's very agile for his size, and I think he's 7'2", among the tallest players in the league.

he reminds me of camby only in his physical appearance, but not skillwise
camby has always played hard and not passive
at this point i don't know if i'd take my chances on POB, not sure if he's worth the money and roster space
we need more guarantees and less risks, having a rookie from the draft probably playing a decently large role, the return of delfino who we don't know exactly how he'll be and the uncertainty of the wingman and whether marion will come back or not are enough risks

POB is a major stiff! And if BC is smart he'll bring back Rasho to minimize POb's role next season.

^^
completely agree!
POB is all about his potential, but frankly he hasn't shown us 1 lick of any potential
usually when you say potential it's because you've seen some highlights of him, whether its blocking shots, rebounding, dunks, shots
usually the guy will have a couple really good games to show you what he can do
POB's potential rides all on the fact that he was drafted fairly high in the 1st round, thats pretty weak potential when you're relying on the fact that some GM picked him high

he's a 7'0 jump shooting pussy, only for the highlight reel blocks.
Send him back to golden state where he actually smiled 2 times.

Derozan has like 3 or 4 inches on him. I really don't see us not taking derozan to grab Henderson, but we can only speculate.
