Knicks NY GM Donnie Walsh Wary Of Max For Bosh; Johnson Or Kobe Plan B?

LOL maybe Bosh isnt a MAX player after all according to "SOURCES"

NY GM Donnie Walsh Wary Of Max For Bosh; Johnson Or Kobe Plan B?

Sources familiar with Donnie Walsh's thinking say the Knicks' president would hesitate to sign Chris Bosh to a maximum-salary contract, preferring to retain David Lee under a smaller deal.

Joe Johnson is presumed to be the Knicks' back-up plan if LeBron James stays in Cleveland. But Kobe Bryant may still choose to jump in this summer's free-agent pool and some believe New York is the only destination Bryant would move to if he leaves Los Angeles.

"Don’t rule him out if LeBron says no to New York," one NBA GM said.

Via CBS Sports
To be honest If i was him I'd sign David Lee to a smaller $$$ contract, and go after Joe Johnson and Lebron and then surround pieces around those 3.

LA is just as sexy a market as NY is, the Lakers will be a championship favourite for the next three years, and Kobe is the King of Los Angeles. Kob' has nothing to gain from playing in NY.

Bosh is in no way a max contract player. In fact he is the one responsible for all the slump after the all-star. He is selfish; his focus is on marketing himself, more than anything else. He can never make a leader that the rest of the team will like to go with. I'm sure Bargnani and the others would produce more if they played with someone else in Bosh's position. For a max contract you could get a true leader.

the new york knicks, ahh how bad is it going to hurt when they can't sign anyone,

bosh would look pretty good at the max considering if they can't get anyone there going to have to sign Rudy Gay at the max

Really? You really believe that based on this article stating "unnamed sources". I seriously don't buy it. They'll be in the lineup of teams that will go after Bosh if there is a S&T (for max $$)

You need to realise that Bosh will not be the same for a long time. Health issues might dawn. He started this season considerably heavier than last year, and that extra weight is possibly showing now in his legs. Don't be suprised if he gets another injury. He is nervous I think since he knows that risk. He can't force himself enough, and because of that he would not get the earlier numbers, plus he gets abnormal number of turnovers. Interested outside parties would be watching Bosh's present condition.

Must agree with Walsh and I think Bosh may be in for a surprise.
Unless he wants to play for NJ or the Clippers no max for Bosh.

Bosh is either on the cusp of becoming an All-NBA caliber player, which would mean he is able to increase his leg strength further and maintain his health for a full season, or he is a player that just isn't built right to get to that next level. I think the possibility that he becomes valuable enough for a max contract is enough for him to get that contract, and there's no telling whether that turns out to be a good move or not.

Unless he's obviously damaged goods, I think Toronto should do everything they can to sign him and go into luxury tax territory as well, so that they do not need to rely on him so much for a full season, as should have been the case with the signing of Hedo. And then, down the line there is always the option to trade him, in the interests of the team and Bosh. I think there would be better options for all interested parties beyond any kind of sign and trade scenario.

You're in for a surprise then. Because guess what Bosh will get a Max deal, especially once Lebron stays in Cleveland and Wade stays in Miami when Miami gets Amare or Boozer or in turn pays max for Bosh. NY says they want Lebron, Kobe or Johnson rather then Bosh. Guess what, the only player they have a chance at there is Johnson, they'd then take Bosh @ max $$ in a heartbeat. Oh and then there's us and Chicago. Both would/will pay him max $$.
