Default Not tanking: was it worth it?

Tankers warned us for a 45 win season and a first round loss.
They pretty much got it right.
Wiggins won't be coming to T.O.

The question for you tankers and anti-tankers: was it worth it?
I am, as always, leaning towards yes.

Overall yes it was worth it. We have a good young team just add some more pieces and we will be good. With this series we got some really good experience so next season we will hopefully be better. Really excited for the future!

Toronto needed this. I mean getting into the play offs and played our asses off getting to game 7. Right now its about building. I'm surprised we went this far to be honest.

Yes!! This team is starting to grow up, and the last 7 games has pushed it along further. If we tank this season we probably have to wait another year and maybe 2yrs to get the experience we just got. Huge....HUGE growth season for this group. I'll take this season + playoff experience over praying we tank enough to get a young unproven 20yr old.

I'd rather get knocked out in the first round now and have our players motivate next season to try and go deeper. Tank and it's next season that we get knocked out in the first round.

well worth it, im sure these guys learned a thing or 2 about the playoffs and will come in with a hungrier approach, assuming lowry comes back. Besides weve seen the last of John Salmons in a raptor uniform

I completely agree. The experience this team received this year is invaluable. They learned to win games down the stretch, they learned to play as a team, they learned what it's like to play in the post-season, and many individual players took huge steps forward.

I'll put it this way, I will take what we saw this season over another season like 2012-13. Can you imagine us being putrid this season and someone like Derozan being on a shit team 6 straight years to start his career? This team just got a taste of what it takes to win.

Everything depends on whether Raptors are able to resign Lowry. If they don't manage to do that then they probably will have to trade some more important players to get something decent in the point guard position.

100% Agreed. At some point we need to get out young guys some experience, and this series was exactly that. We have a great young core and they will only get better.

A young team getting some experience in the post season, an exciting crowd showing the whole NBA that Toronto is a great basket ball market, a fun season to watch (finally) with 48 wins, two all star caliber players (Lowry deserved it so much), the Atlantic division title, an attempt at establishing a winning culture rather than wait for success to magically appears...

Of course it was worth it. Very proud of this young team and looking forward to what happens next (Masai getting to work).

Ask the fans whether they wanted a series like this to end the season on such an exciting note, or tank for a pseudo superstar that will develop during another playoff drought

It's only worth it if we build on it next year and win 50+ games and a round in the playoffs. Otherwise its just fools gold and a repeat of the Smitch years. I have faith in Masai to build a contender and tweak the team to fill in the missing parts, so yeah, it was worth it.

And this is coming from someone who was firmly on the tankwagon.

If Toronto tanked they probably would have got pick 5-8 range, not bad enough for top 3.

So yes it was worth it. Toronto gained a lot of respect from outsiders and a lot of great experience. You have to build a winning attitude and this could be the start of that for Toronto. Like Paul Pierce said right after the game about Toronto "This is a team with a bright future and going to get better".

Players just got great playoff experience. Now they just need to build on it.

what a great year. loved every minute. resign lowry, patterson, give amir araise and find a new coach who can find an offensive scheme that uses JV and find a defensive stopper

Yes it was worth it. As Masai said, "I don't know how to teach winning by losing." We just need to build on this, have a good offseason, lock up some core guys, cut some expendable pieces (ie. Salmons) and hopefully make some moves to further improve our team.

This was so much better than tanking. If we had tanked, we would be years away from success even if we got a high pick and made the right choice. And that wouldnt have been guaranteed. Now we got invaluable experience to young players, basically raised trade value of every player on the roster and got an exiting season out of the team which will surely get some respect to the team in general.

I agree with this 100%

Would've been HUGE if they had won today's game.

+ was definitely not worth it if this man walks
