News-Herald: Early look at Cavs playoff matchups

Quote:
The Raptors are doing everything in their power right now to not make the playoffs. They are 2-8 in their last 10 games but fortunately for them, the Chicago Bulls, who were almost a lock to make the playoffs a few weeks ago, have been riddled with injuries and have lost nine straight and sit 2 1/2 games behind the Raptors.
Quote:
Despite falling flat on their faces over the past month or so, the Raptors actually do matchup well with the Cavs, and have already beaten them once this season.

If the season were to end today, the Cavs would be playing them in the first round.

The biggest matchup problem will of course be Hedo Turkoglu, who I’m sure still haunts Mike Brown’s dreams after last season’s Eastern Conference Finals matchup.

Chris Bosh is also too much for JJ Hickson to handle and Andrea Bargnani, in three games against the Cavs this season, has averaged 23.7 points per game (on 57 percent shooting), his highest against any other team in the league.

The Raptors are more than capable of winning at least one game in this series.

They’ve been underachieving all year, and may wake up come playoff team against the team who is favored to win it all.

WTF?

Under achieving ALL YEAR?

He also went on about how we matchup well and have beat them this season. And then says they are capable of winning at least one game.

I was thinking about this the other night and beyond them having lebron we really match up with them well.

They're not grossly athletic at the wings and neither are we. The big problem we have is containing Mo Williams from killing us with the 3.

Playing Boston or Atlanta would be death for us because we just don't match up with them at all.

Hey and if at all else, this way Chris Bosh would get the TNT exposure he wants.

We've played 3 times and we've beaten them once. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

Also we were considered a top 5-6 team in the East by this fanbase here. Now we're sitting 8th. How have we not underachieved?

Or is he just some dumb American?

if we could play anyone... i'd take cleveland.
lebron is a monster, but we've proved that we can stay with them for the majority of the game.
atl, bos, even orlando will squash us.

IMO until 3 weeks ago we weren't under achieving at all and were in 5th place with the 3rd best record in the NBA the previous two+ months. So to say all year is grossly exaggerated.

As well as we match-up with Cleveland outside of LeBron, fact is, they have LeBron. Cleveland is the last team I'd want to face in the first round for that reason alone. I really don't want my team to be LeBron's first round fodder.

If we want to give ourselves a shot at winning a round Boston is easily our best bet followed by Orlando, Atlanta and Cleveland. Really though, we won't be getting out of the first round regardless of who we play.

The last team i'd wanna face is Atlanta, followed closely by Orlando...both teams would likely sweep us. I'd take my chances with Boston or Cleveland.

We couldnt beat Boston without Pierce and Garnett. Imgaine when we'd play against their best team. Hell no, that scares me...

Fuck that, we'd have a better shot with them over Orlando/Atlanta. No contest. I really don't want to get swept by a team that has VC on it. No thanks, and Atlanta would chew us up in 4 games for sure.

Ummmm..... has everyone forgotten about Shaq?

I know that he's not young anymore but he'll still pose big problems for us down low.

Cleveland is actually my favorite matchup. Bargs and Bosh always play well against them

Boston has swept the season series against us. They even beat us when they didn't have Pierce and Garnett (maybe Glen Davis as well). We've beaten both Atlanta and Orlando before.

shaq is the reason Bargs put up those high numbers....

i'm not into conspiracies (kings vs lakers/suns vs lakers), but i don't think the league would allow us to beat the cavs.

Which means shit imo. Orlando is gonna be ready to roll over us in the playoffs. We beat them when they were in a tailspin. As for Atlanta, we'd get smoked for sure, they smoked us twice and we beat them once by the skin of our nuts with Joe Johnson out of the lineup.

Since the last time we played Boston they've looked rather ordinary. They'd still beat us but we could possibly get to the 6th game vs them and Cleveland.

So you hate semantics?

Fact of the matter is we have underachieved. Perhaps not all year, but underachievers we are.

Mehhh, we're 1.5 games out of 6th which is where you and some others say we should be. If we have a good week we could be in 6th. Would we be underachieving then? We're not that far from what many said we'd be. In the U.S some had us in 5th, others had us fighting for 6-8th and others said we'd miss the playoffs. We're not that far from expectations, excluding this place and other Raptor fans.
