Default New Face of Franchise: Harrison Barnes

Raptors keeping a close eye on Harrison Barnes. "Imagine the possibilities with Barnes, Ed Davis and DeMar DeRozan." Imagine a team without Bargnani. In the David Thorpe chat in ESPN, he was comparing him to Paul Pierce.

"While it may be a bit premature, reality will soon find the Raptors thinking about next year. As March Madness tips off, the maddening process of projecting college players into pro prospects begins. No player will be watched more closely than North Carolina's Harrison Barnes, a freshman small forward who is as electric as any wing in the NCAA. If this kid comes out of school and if the Raptors somehow win the lottery, he'd be the perfect face for a faceless franchise. Imagine the possibilities with Barnes, Ed Davis and DeMar DeRozan."

Who's game does Harrison Barnes remind you of most and how successful will he be?

David Thorpe (12:03 PM)
I think he can be Paul Pierce, more or less. Pierce has an extremely technically advanced triple threat game, and Barnes will need to learn that. But I like how he's starting to post and back down guys.

Maybe not the face of the franchise, because I see DD taking on that role, but he would definitely be a great fit on our team.

As impressive as his offensive game is...I'm even more impressed by how much he hounds the opposition on the defensive end. This guy really puts in effort. I'd love to see this guy in a Raptors uniform maybe even more so than Kyrie Irving although PG and a big man might be a more pressing need.

I want them to trade down or get another pick somehow and get Fredette. Fredette has the most star power coming into this draft. IMO he'll be the next stephen curry but with a slightly better jumper (especially range).

I'd rather they shy away from Fredette... as much as he can score, he's going to get abused defensively. Barnes looks good though.

Golden State will get rid of Stephen Curry or Monta Ellis. Why draft when you can get the real thing. Trade Bargnani for Stephen Curry. Golden State needs a center.

maybe if Fredette was a freshmen or sophmore playing how he has been, but not as a senior, him, nolan smith and sullinger have already peaked basically

If they need a Center, why would they want Bargnani?

Because we're so much smarter than them Jeff. We wouldn't tell them he's a PF... Why can't you understand this?

I like Irving and Sullinger a lot more than Barnes, but at least Barnes is a freshman and has lots of potential. He's shooting a shitty 42% clip, and his team has gotten steamrolled by Duke twice this year, but he's definitely a solid looking player.

they are actually training udoh to being the future centre, if they take Bargs they can potentially have a starting lineup of ellis, wright, lee, bargs, udoh. plus GS has always been a team of score first defend later. they might bite if we throw in a future 1st rounder or maybe JJ if we draft a SF.

I really want a PG because we have a wing in DeRozan and two bigs in Ed and Amir. And who knows James Johnson could be a good player one day so maybe he could start at SF. I wouldn't be dissapointed at all if we get Barnes, but I would prefer a PG. Jose's done a great job this season, but we need someone there for the future with superstar potential.

correct me if im wrong but isnt next years draft focusing on pg's? especially since i believe w'eel get a mid lottery pick depending on what we do with bargnani..

also, pg's who come out in their freshman year dont turn out so well with the exception of derrick rose so i think irving is a bit over hyped. heel be good, but not amazing. if anything, hope he doesnt declare, and heel end up in our grasp NEXT year. the dude is not mature enough yet, hes played eight college games for gods sake. draft barnes this year, and irving next year and we will have one good looking lineup.

irving/bayless
DD/weems
Barnes/JJ
Amir/Ed/reggie(interchangeable in starting position)
bargs/dorsey/ed

only thing weel need to do is upgrade the centre position.

it's a draft without superstar potential

Shhh! Stop talking about him so much. If we don't win the lottery, both he and Irving would be long gone.
