Lightbulb The new Bosh: 48 Rules of Power

I dont know if you guys remember this but a few years ago Bosh was reading this book called the 48 Rules of Power. He was going on about how great it was. I was persoanlly disgusted by it.

For those of you unfamiliar, here is a short veriosn: http://www2.tech.purdue.edu/cg/Cours...s_of_power.htm

In my opinion this book is all about ways to gain power and leverage covertly and deceitfully, and a sure way to eventually fail in the long run.

It flies in the face of proven ways to become successful by some of the most successful people on the planet, advocated by the likes of Robbins, Tracey, etc.

It seems to me that Bosh ever since reading that book is when the transormation started. ANd this year he is now totally different from years past when he had a great attitude all the time, had passion, worked his ass off all the time.

Some of you may think that what I am saying is silly, but I have seen lots of people change over a period of time, for good or bad, by following down paths that various teachigs lead them.

Read the short version and tell me what you think!

I think he has law 17 in action right now

And for the record, I still think Bosh is a great player with loads of talent, and still has a bright future ahead of him. I would love for him to stay, and work hard, and understand the fans, and their passion. But its starting to seem that isnt the case, and maybe its a good thing if he goes.

What a pile of bs those rules of power are and if Bosh actually raved about that type of book I just lost all respect for him. Those rules are totally despicable and underhanded.

You should check out www.chris-bosh.com when you get the chance. I also like to read books. I try to read at least one or two a month. Right now I'm reading a book called the 48 Laws of power. It's a tough read because it's like 500 pages. I'm halfway through it so hopefully I'll be done soon.

for the record, i never doubted that he read the book, i just question Matt's suggestion that Bosh was applying the readings into his life.

For the record, I didn't believe Matt's assertion that he had even read the book, which is why I checked into it.

It's not uncommon though. It's a good conspiracy theory.

Hehe, ya I probably am, but I need something to keep me entertained since the Raptors havnt been doing it lately.

However, Do not doubt the power of reading such things, whether or not you you are reading it to intentionally follow it or reading it for the fun of it, these types of ideas can stick in your head long after putting down such a book.

I am a beleiver in the power of positive thinking, etc. I changed my life many years ago from rock bottom after reading and listening to motivational speakers and other success oriented stuff.

But the point is it all comes down to what your personal beleifs are, because it really is that you see what you beleive. (Like a lot of sports fams )

well, Bosh is still relatively young so i guess that alone makes him more impressionable.

the sad part though, is that these rules actually make a lot of sense. While not absolutely necessary to follow them to gain power and all that, it's probably the easiest way (and the less influenced by luck).

maybe Bosh meant that he likes the way the author understands how human society works, not that he liked the message. I hope at least ... Kind of like when you see a horror movie and you like it, doesn't mean that you actually condone what happens in it ...
