The new Anthony Parker

Can Alain anderson be the second coming of AP next season?
He's a really smart player and he will be a real asset off the bench. Not sure about the details of his contract, but if we have an option for next season, he could provide massive value.

That's funny, i called him our new AP a couple weeks ago. So far I have to agree. He reminds me of him especially when he's hitting the corner three.

carp 04-23-2012 09:43 PM

As long as he's not our best wing, then call him Anthony all you want. He can be a nice bench guy that buys in, doesn't make so many mistakes as would be made by a second round pick that would otherwise be there.

maybe, i think AP was/is a better ballhandler. i think of him as rasual butler (when he played with cp3)

Anderson is really undersized for a SF position, so his potential future with the team would depend on whether we end up drafting a SG. If, for instance, Beal is drafted, then there is no room for Anderson on the roster, it seems.

At this point it depends what they want to do with Forbes.

Not really. Forbes could be kept as a third-stringer for both back-court positions on a cheap contract for another year. Anderson would ask for more.

Aamir 04-24-2012 02:03 PM

Forbes is still on contract for the next year btw.

More? Based on what, a month's play? The guy is almost 30 and hasn't stuck anywhere. A garanteed 1-2yr deal at what ever money should be all he expects.

I don't think it matters if he's a backup, it's not like he's going to defend the top stars in the league.

In any case, I was referring more to his bb IQ, he's a really smart player and he plays hard. At a minimum salary or close to, he would be fantastic off the bench. I'd much rather have him than JJ.

In my opinion, for bench guys, defense is not as important as for starters. If a defensive stopper can't start, he's almost useless (although asik would probably beg to differ, but he's different because he's a C).

He shouldn't even get a guaranteed contract.. give him a non-guaranteed for next year and forget about it. Raps don't need to overpay for end of bench talent.

The bolded part is where we have very different opinions. IMO, James Johnson is one of the players we absolutely have to retain, someone who fits the new team system very well and is still improving while having all the tools necessary to succeed at forward in the league. Anderson, on the other hand, is a WYSIWYG player, streaky with his shot, has veteran savvy, but that could easily be obtained elsewhere.

JJ will go straight to the bench with the possible addition of MKG or Barnes.

Barracuda 04-24-2012 04:38 PM

I miss Anthony Parker. Still.

0nekhmer 04-24-2012 04:49 PM

Haven't watched him play since dleaguers took over but seen boxscores and he seems to always hit the 3 ball efficiently

Barnes isn't worth the draft pick, and were not getting MKG... Beal all the way.

We're not getting Beal either in all likelyhood unless we move up at least 2-3 spots on lottery night, unless he drops to us.

That's what we have Ed for!

AP is a really nice guy and I like him. Fact is he's an average player on bad teams or a back-up on teams not in the bottom 10. Not sure why that's anything to be really excited by and to award tons of money to, especially with no real upside (age).

Define "tons of money"
