Nene has decided to opt out. Becomes free agent.

Denver Nuggets' Nene to opt out of contract, become an unrestricted free agent - The Denver Post

I don't think they can with the new cap and all, maybe a sign and trade for Bosh.

they can always get FAs, if players want to really win a championship, they're the place to go, sign for less and you can fit in, i think thats what miami's plan is right now, they're just hoping that a star C and PG will jump on the opportunity to win and go there for less, problem is its for way less

I think they can get only vets that are on the down side such as Bibby, Miller Big Z etc.... I don't see good young PG/ C going there. With the new cap I think LBJ, Wade and Bosh are hogging on their cap bigtime.

Nene isn't opting out to go play for the min... even if it's for a championship. Miami has zero shot at Nene.

Do they not have a MLE they could use? Not saying Nene would accept that or anything.

i think you get it every year you're in the tax threshold. definitely one of the more prevalent issues in CBA negotations for the owners cause it's allowing the powerhouse tax teams to re-up every season.

No, you can go over the Salary cap by using the MLE but not the tax i believe.

1 - the Mid-Level Exception is available to all teams over the cap, including teams over the salary tax threshold. Example: the Lakers were over the tax threshold when the signed Artest by using the MLE.

2 - You can use the MLE each year. Example: Boston used it to sign Rasheed Wallace in summer of 2009. Then, in the summer of 2010, they used it to sign Jermaine O'neal.

3 - Like Jeff said, we gotta wait and see if it's included in the new CBA.

4 - Thought is right. It is a major reason why the powerhouse teams are able to stay strong. It allows them to add decent bench and role players each year.

5 - No MLE puts a real hitch in Miami's plans. The HEAT planned to build their depth through the MLE.

the MLE is only about 5.7 mill tho? And it's possible with some longer contracts they've got that they could be already a bit into that? So they could have as little as 3 or 4 mill to offer him?

I really don't like Nene's game he is highly over rated & with his luck he will hurt him self & pull a Hakeem on us.

I just get the feeling there isn't even a chance he would play here as well.

The dude straight wails on fools. He's huge, and when he starts putting it on the floor and getting to the line, he puts your bigs in foul trouble. Next thing you know, Denver's running layup drills and you're down by 20. Mainly because your shot blockers are riding the pine in foul trouble.

+1 a motivated Nene is a scary beast. He'd be a great fit. More athletic and mobile than Marc Gasol, though Dalembert could be a cheaper option that helps depth elsewhere.
