Default The need to trade Jose

I believe this team now more then ever needs to trade Jose, we need other players to touch the ball & learn how to dribble, the fact is that no one needs to dribble when Jose is on the floor & Andrea is just being spoon fed jump shot after jump shot...

There is only one positive that Jose provides is a solid pick & roll with AJ & ED

But there has to be more ball handling given to our young players so there play making skills can grow IMO

Yep. Jose is too predictable, he just holds onto the ball and throws it into Bargnani like hes Chris Bosh.

but he can change, the last few starts he got he was more focused on distributing 1st. jose does need to go but so does andrea, he just is not that good.

andrea has gotten a lot better at creating his own shots when his JS is dropping and demar has gotten better at not being so predictable and turning it over or drawing a charge.

i'm all up for trading jose, in fact i've always been but the thought of bayless starting every night scares me
the "he can change" reasoning i don't buy, its too convenient a reason to make us feel like jose isn't needed, bayless changing his scoring mentality is like telling iverson to pass first, it may work a bit but he's going to shoot more often then not, my other problem with him is even when he passes its either a poor pass or a poor time to pass

but i guess i'm not really looking for the Raptors to win games this season and in the end i still want jose gone, so trade him away, but everyone better get ready for it to look even uglier each night because bayless' flaws will be magnified 100X and BC better be looking to pick up a real PG starter in the off season

Jose is awful. It's clear that his one good season was is an outlier. I can't believe that anyone would want him hear as a part of the foundation of a rebuild.

He could still be invaluable as a backup if we draft a Kyrie Irving. Or a backup to anybody. There's really just no problem with having him go into another season, as long as he recognizes that he would have a different role.

Yup BC should at least feel out what he can get for AB & let the media know too, so it puts some pressure on him to get better...

A lot easier said than done, as evidenced this summer. Hopefully a playoff team can use his services come the deadline.

Ya and start Bayless? Why don't we put Sonny at point too? Jose is the damn glue on this team.

Yep.

We can't go into next season with Bayless as the back up to a rookie or vice versa. Can't is maybe too strong of a word but it would be a detriment.

Jose passing on what he knows about the position, which is a lot, would benefit our team and a rookie PG immeasurably.

We don't know what Irving is yet, but I don't see Washington complaining about one young John Wall. Outside of injury, they could have me as backup PG and be happy.

jose has never brought us anywhere and we'll never go anywhere with him still on this team as a starter or as a backup. Everything is stale with him, i said it last week and i'll say it again, we can go anywhere with Jose + Bargnani on the floor for 35+mpg. One or both have to go imo.

I think jose would be very sucessful on a team that can play great team defense, i always thought LA should have made a run at him, he is a much better option then steve blake IMO

So defense is the criticism? I don't get that, because if anything his offense has suffered a little due to him focusing more on defense and playing pretty damn well. if he were to bring the same defensive intensity off the bench I'd have no problem keeping him as long as possible.

I think the guy is getting pigeonholed a little by some of you guys that can't recognize that his game has developed, that he's putting in the work, and that he's arguably the best player on a very green team. coughJeffcough.

Having a reliable backup at this position is absolutely invaluable. Having a guy with a lot of experience on a young team is invaluable. Having a kid that ends up clearly head and shoulders above him, but still able to learn from him, would be a great situation, as long as he is able to accept it, and I think he likely would. He'd finally have a role that suits him perfectly.

Lakers are exactly the type of team he could flourish on. And especially now with Kobe's body breaking down, it would be great for them to have someone who can distribute the ball (and Jose can) over a large part of the game. Lakers need to protect that asset. You just need to watch that Jose's not in there when it is lock down defense time at the ends of games.

Jose can be a part of a lockdown defense. He knows what to do. He knows where to be. He doesn't make horrendous mistakes, he just gets beaten by speed, and much less so when he's not hampered by injury. He used to give up on defensive plays far too easily, and now he hangs in there and fights when a faster guy is going past him. That makes a huge difference in terms of team defense. You can't tell me that Fisher plays any differently.

The guy doesn't need a special situation to make up for a gigantic weakness anymore. He's worked on his defense to the point where it is not the albatross so many are still seeing somehow. He would do well on any number of teams. But he is going to excel as a backup, because then he doesn't have to tax his body as much.
