I'm ok with looking at well thought out options. It's the sense of urgency that initially really bothered me with the tone of this thread. It overlooks the fact that this guy could find a role here yet that fits him very well. He can play a big part in moving the team in the right direction. And there wouldn't be that much coin tied up in the most important position. Of course going forward, he would either have to be moved or take less money, and my preference now would be to see him gain value a year from now and find ourselves with more options available, and a better of sense of the team's needs.

You see an extremely reliable backup point guard with veteran experience as deadweight, and I see something quite different. I'm not going to make any claim to a right or wrong way to see it, I just have terrible fears of another vacuum hindering the process of development for a young team. And if we don't acquire a pg in the draft, then I'm extremely worried about the situation that would be at hand.

and yeah - thinking on it more, I realize that his reliability might not be all that extreme when it comes to what condition his body is in.

let's just say I'm truly glad it's not my job to make these decisions

Right now his legs look as good as they ever have. Last night collison was moving past him with head and shoulders and Jose moved his legs fast enough to get back in front of him, and then stop abruptly as Collison pulled up. In the past he would never move like that without a great deal of hesitation, and a little fear perhaps. If he can keep doing that without hurting himself, then I would not be so worried about him playing in the summer.

i don't care if its selling high or low, the point should be to sell him either way
too bad bayless is hurt right now and so is barbosa because its going to leave us with trey johnson as our only PG, we'd have to get julian wright to be a point forward, hahaha
actually, this is tank season, why not try that, then wright will be more play time too

When will the Raptors be a championship contender? I just thought I should ask.

depends what you consider a championship contender, to me there's really only like a 2-3 teams who are real contenders in each conference, and even then thats pushing it

we basically need to stumble on at least a couple of superstars, so that'll have to be in the draft, and they have to all peak at the same time and stay for an extended period of time at their peak, i'm talking like 5 years together at their peak, then we have a somewhat of a chance
if this can happen the vets and bench guys (supporting cast) will naturally fall into place because guys will actually want to come play here
and none of this scenario has jose's name anywhere, but maybe as backup

That's a long time. Too bad our city is not a great destination for the players, and can't get superstars in instant like the Celtics and Heat did. So we'll suffer being a fan of a below-mediocre team in the next 8-10 years?!

Yup the ability to get 19 assist on one of the worst teams in the league can not be over looked!

They will be asking for Jose!

Lets see who offers the best package.

The last thing that team needs is a PG.

Actually, I'd say it's the first thing they need. Yes they have Curry and Ellis but neither are PGs.

Golden State was at its best when they had a guy directing that offence (Jackson, Davis) and let the scorers do their job.

Calderon would be a perfect fit there to help filter that offence to become more efficient and well, it'd allow them to move one of their pieces (Ellis, sell high on him) for a SF/PF.

The last thing they also need is a PG that's too shy to shoot and who can't play defense. Then again GSW aren't that bright. Plus what would we get from that team for him?

As much as I love Jose. I would love to see what we could get for him.
Him and Amir Johnson have such good chemistry though. Hard to coach that.

I dunno, that team rarely plays defense as it stands and I'd say is defensively on par with Curry and Ellis.

And they don't really need him to shoot too much.

Really I'd buy low on Biedrins and trade Jose

My point exactly, you'd think if they were gonna add n aging PG with a bloated contract that it would at least be an upgrade on D, or a PG that would be a scorer. But like i said, this is GSW. I'd take Biedrins in return for Jose.
