Need to acquire a solid backup Center

We didn't really have anyone who can do a solid job at the 5 behind Jonas. If we put someone at the 5 to take JV's place they were always undersized or not that skilled. Our only true backup C was Greg Stiemsma but you can't really play him because he's a 3rd string player at best and you're not really gonna win many games with him as your backup. We got Hayes, Hansborough, Stiemsma and Amir with expiring contracts i'd look to at least get rid of 3/4 of these players and get a solid backup center, it would really help to alleviate pressure in the front court defensively and on the boards when our big men are taking a rest.

A good option would be Kosta Koufos. Haven't watched him play much but knowing that he plays on Memphis behind Gasol and Z Bo on that grind out defensive team I think he would be an asset to the Raptors, definitely an improvement from what we have now. He plays a solid 16-17 min a game, he's played in a tough system and most importantly he'd fit in well with the city knowing that there is a large Greek community in Toronto. He's also a big body at 7 feet 265 lbs he can bang with anyone in the low post and get those box outs that Raptors have failed at on the glass this past season. Here's some more info on him and what he can do.

NBA.com/Stats

That's just one option which I can see being possible, what do you guys think about the backup Center spot having to be addressed? Who would be a solid backup for JV?

I wonder if Masai would still be interested in McGee for part of the MLE, or the mini MLE.

The only players we should be acquiring are ones who have won a round.

The sad part is we should've acquired one a year ago but noooooooo Casey wanted to go small.
Casey probably will still want to go small next year so I'm not getting my hopes up...

I think Wright would be awesome backup, he could play some PF minutes too.

I still don't get why Stiemsma didn't get any playing time. He wasn't that bad before coming to Raptors (by no means a world beater, but serviceable)

Agreed. Not playing steimsma given our rebounding issues made absolutely no sense imo. And yes, i wouldn't mind Wright as our backup C as well.

I doubt Bebe turns out to be much. I never understood how anyone thought he'd get minutes this season. He was a throw in as part of a lopsided trade. I never expected much

This is one thing that perplexed me quite a bit during the regular season. Stiemsa had actual playing time in New Orleans. We almost always for whatever reason opted for TH and Amir to take the Center role.

He's more injury prone than Koufos and he isn't much better offensively if you look at the stats he plays 2-3 minutes longer but averages less boards and only a point and a half more, plus Koufos is a bigger body at 7 feet he's a true Center which is what we need in the East when JV is out of the game he can still be inserted to deal with guys like Gortat, Seraphin and Nene. We need a big bruiser at the 5 not a combo F/C who's more injury prone especially with the defensive style that Casey is trying to play, if Masai chooses to not fire him, someone who's been on a defensive team and experienced in the playoffs would help us better.

Speaking of Seraphin... he's an UFA after this season. Might be worth looking into. He's always seemed to have some game.

I'd like a big bruiser but he has to be a vet's vet with character and has to be vocal. Like Chandler but less expensive lol. I'd take a poor man's Chandler.

Brendan Haywood, won a ring with the Mavs and is going to the Finals with the Cavs right now.

I wouldn't want him for an entire season

He would have been an AMAZING rent-a-player going into the playoffs

But dealing with that headcase for 82 games would suck
