They have us coming in 3rd behind the Celts and Sixers with a record of 47-35 (6th in EC) but check our their "Bold" prediction.

No pressure Jose ... no pressure.

Iíve already gone over why I love Calderon. To summarize, heís the complete offensive package and he makes no mistakes. Billups is a player who puts up good numbers on a very good Detroit team, but I feel heís been living off of his Finals MVP for a little too long. Itís time for some new blood atop the Eastern Conference point-guard pyramid. With 35+ minutes a night to show the world his stuff, Calderon is going to shock casual fans and journalists alike when his 08-09 stats look something like 19-10.

To be honest though, we require those numbers from him if we plan on having any chance this season. He's considered part of that "big 3" and offensively we need that from him. Hell, I expect numbers around 18 and 12 personally. Anything less and I'd consider it a disappointment.

Why the maybe? He's a good shooter, can get to the basket when he actually wants to and he's always had extraordinary assist numbers. The only real weak part of Calderon's game is his non existant defence.

True enough, he should get 14 and 12 easily, the assist are no problem cause hes got lots of weapons and under the right system(gulp) the team will score in bunches.

I'm basically saying that all we can expect is about 13-14 PPG.At least i do.

19PPG is a pretty big stretch. His assists will be between 9-11,but he often passes up a shot.If he averages more than 14PPG he's going to have to take more shots.

I think he'll be around 15+9.3 as long as he keeps being aggressive in looking to break the defence down like all the other top pgs, and not just throw it to JO or Bosh after 1 or 2 dribbles around the pick.

Jose is my favorite PG in the NBA but I don't see how he is going to really going to reach numbers like 19-10. I think the forum 'consensus' of around 14-9 is much more realistic. I could actually see his assists being below 9 since now a good portion of scoring position passes are going to be between JO and Bosh, assuming they gel, and inside out passes from JO/Bosh to perimeter players for open looks.

I think Jose just being Jose is all we need. He could still be the "best" PG in the east but its not going to be with 19-10 or even the Assist/TO he had last year.

there is no way jose will average 19ppg. He would have to play 48 minutes to get that many shots.

I think it's gonna all come down to how Jose perceives himself throughtout the course of the year. He can easily put up high scoring numbers, but in the past seems reluctant to do so via his unselfish ways. It's not in his nature to consider himself a first or second option. But does he "need to" score more than 15 a game really? i don't think so. There are enough scorers on the floor. I'd be way more concerned about his assist numbers.
