Wow...another Tj thread with some really critical analysis

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people that there were a few other guys in red who stunk the joint out last night... and who share blame with Tj in the loss.

It wasn't that last night...It was T.J and his complete disregard for his teammates.

Lebron
Kobe
KG
etc...

There is a short list of guys that can take over like T.J tried...He is not Kobe, and he needs to learn that.

it wasnt so much the loss, as it was the selfish play. for example, that buzzer beater in the 3rd that tj had, delfino was wide, and i mean WIDE open on the 3 pt line on the wing, and TJ threw up a lucky shot that happened to drop. when they came into the bench after that, only guy that i noticed congratulating TJ was Kapono.

yes, we sucked as a team last night, but TJ, as a supposed spark off the bench, and a point guard no less, with 20 points in 16 minutes, with 2 assists and 7 TO's. terrible, just terrible

I usually try and be pretty fair with TJ, but throwing those awful pass to no one or off fan's heads and then looking at his teammates in disgust is pretty bad.

Not arguing he tried to do too much...pretty confident we're not going to see that tonight but really the important thing is winning games...so the loss last night is very important...far moreso than crucifying TJ.

The other guys had enough shot attempts to have made some, rasho, kapono, delfino...we can't win without at least one of those guys doing something on offence. Probably the reason Tj was left in the game but Jose brought in too was because at least he was hitting some shots last night...again not defending his play but really it was a bad team loss not a bad TJ loss.

Yup, I'm hard on every player on this team, but Ford's ego is getting bigger and bigger by the game. Proof was that prior to this season he promised he was going to be an all-star proving once again he cares about himself. I'm not reading into this either guys, what he does on the court and what he has been doing on the court for over a year now is enough evidence to support that theory.

for his little "show" in the 3rd, it just really reminded me of that kid in elementary school that thought he was the absolute best and never passed the ball...
it was so disgusting to watch.
how the hell does a point guard bring the ball up on 4 straight possessions and not pass once?
you think his teamates appreciate that?
i would absolutely hate the guy.

and whats worse, he commits a turnover and blames his teamates!
holy hell!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug Smith add his two cents

Quote:
Lord knows there’s been enough unjustified criticism of T.J. Ford out there in the past, today, let ‘er rip.

The first nine shots of the fourth quarter in a close game? Man, that’s inexcusable. I had a feeling he was in one of his odd moods at the end of the second quarter when he dribbled in and out of traffic about three times, ignoring at least two open teammates behind the arc, and threw up that dopey prayer of a shot that went in.

Who knew that might be the high point of his night?

That fourth quarter was as odd a display of basketball as I’ve seen him ever put on. And I’m pretty sure even a diplomatic Sam (“We need him to score but he has to keep other guys involved, too.” Sam said as I typed watching TV post-game) is going to have a word with him about that kind of display.

hell, again, i dont even care that he hogged it.

He gave up on defence.

Only playing hard on Arroyo a few times when they were mired in thier one on one battle.

After a few misses and a give away, he just slumped his shoulders and watched the Magic scamper off the other way.

hmm.

John Lucas said last week that he thinks that TJ could be one of the 5 best PG ever to play the game... I know he is paid by TJ but... c'mmon...

Talk like this and Sam asking TJ to do 'more' while Bosh is injured sure gave TJ Mike James 'disease'...

And that my friends is why I am so against the Raptors adding a summer school coach to the pay roll. Lucas will do his best to push TJ ahead of Jose. You notice that ever since Lucas has been involved with the team that TJ has gone crazy on the floor and just like any shrink he comes out with all these excuses.:bounce::bounce: Lucas and TJ the hell out of Toronto.

I just wanted to add this from a previous thread.Maybe we can blame all this on Lucas lol Here's Lucas on the horn :director: "come on tj you can do it, :director:shoot tj shoot you got a great shot tj,:director: don't pass tj you are so fast that no one can stop you,:director: tj you can pass better then jose be pretty man you got style man. Finally :director: TJ you are going to be in the top 5 point guards in NBA history.

We hired Lucas for TJ now we can send them both packing. As Raptors fans we should saying ,:director: BC get both these head cases out of here.

Was it the smirking? The way he ordered starters toward the end of the bench with a point, while Ford (a reserve) stuck to his seat in the middle of the bench? The way he scored point after point on bad shot after bad shot in the fourth quarter?
I actually saw that when Bargs was going to the bench and he didnt accept. Bargs ended up making TJ move wich is normal.

At least Mike James was likeable ... What TJ did was one of the most despicable things I ever saw in a Raptors game. And it's not the fact that he took al those shots - it's the way he completely IGNORED his teammates, like he was playing with a bunch of amateurs. I hate when I see this attitude with Lebron or Kobe, but to see it from a POINT GUARD? (and a backup at that).

And the excuse that Sam was trying to exploit Arroyo is weak. I didn't see any Arroyo exploitation last night, all I saw was TJ driving in the middle of the paint and shooting high-arched fade-aways. I'm pretty sure any other raptor could do the same thing. Exploitation is when you get to the rim at will, when you create open shots for teammates ...

One other thing. Ever since he came back, does anybody remember an end-of-quarter sequence where TJ actually passed the ball? He always does the same thing, waits for 4-5 seconds before the clock expires and then starts dribbling and ends up shooting a contested J. Is he trying to exploit everybody in the league?

And, finally, I remember when TJ was out, his supporters always came with these 2 arguments:

1. How TJ is such a superior defender and doesn't let people blow by.
I've watched him very carefully the past 4-5 games, and I've seen how everybody blows past him just as easily as they do past Calderon.

2. How TJ will foul out "player X" in 2 quarters etc. I've yet to see this happening either ...

"Part of the problem is that when things start going south, our guys think they can do it by themselves, but we don't have those types of players. Our players are geared toward somebody making a play for somebody else. That's how this team has been built. It hasn't been built on a superstar carrying us down the stretch,"

This was a comment by Flip about the Pistons, but could apply equally to the Raps. This is why we need to do something about the TJ situation...
