Default NBA Summer League: Top 10 Non Rookies (Derozan #1!!!)

Quote:
1. DeMar DeRozan – 4 games 21ppg 4.5rpg 1.5apg 58fg% 40 3fg% 63FT%

DeRozan was one of the best players in this year's summer league, averaging 21 points (including 3 straight 20+ point games). And it should’ve been more had he converted on more than 63% of his free throws. DeRozan is a scorer in every sense of the word, showing his outside touch, ability to attack the basket, get to the line as well as finish in traffic. He also took care of the ball, committing just 4 turnovers in 4 games. Out of all the 2009 draftee's, DeRozan was the most impressive this week and with Chris Bosh now gone, will be relied upon to contribute at least 15 points a game for Toronto this season. Judging by his performances over the summer, he looks ready for the responsibility.

He certainly appears to be destined for a breakout season. Hopefully Triano actually makes him part of the offense unlike last year.

I also hope all of our expectations for him don't jinx him either lol.

Oh ya Weems is also ranked number 7. Impressive too.

Weems also in at #7.

Quote:
Weems would’ve been personally pleased the Matt Barnes deal fell through as it improves his chances to be the starting small forward for the Raptors.Weems has the size, skills and athleticism to be an effective wing in the NBA. His combination with DeRozan was potent all week and he is more than capable of being a double figure scorer for Toronto this season

The whole Raptor SL team looked good. Having DD, Weems, Davis, and B.Brown is a pretty strong group compared to some of the talent on other teams. We also had a whole group of bigs that took turns playing well.

He's taken a huge step forward when compared with his performance in last year's summer league. That alone is enough to get (cautiously) excited for.

I know it was just summer league, but you have to be encouraged with the aggressive drives and contested finishes

yeah. i remember him being solid and impressive, but he's just been spectacular this summer. he's been a standout in every game and the best player on the floor, as opposed to just another talented guy.

I think when it's all said and done DeRozan will be a multiple all-star, top 10 SG.

I really hope so regarding Derozan. I think the Raptors really lucked out with Ed Davis. A top 5 talent in the draft dropping to 13. If he really put his work in, Ed Davis can be come a top 10 power forward in a couple of years. If everything falls into place, the Raptors may have top 10 wing player & power forward in the league. That's why BC has gotta use Jose, trade exception, and the expring contracts of Banks, Belli, Evans to get a good young point guard.

Well he certainly played well, from what I saw in highlights and what not. I hope he can play like that in the Regular season

I remember when Peja and Dirk blew up in the summer league when they first started and it carried over to their success in the NBA. Hopefully DD can carry it over too.
