Toronto Raptors- 4th in Atlantic in 2011-2012

Current Players: Kyle Lowry, Andrea Bargnani, Demar Derozan, Jonas Valanciunas, Jose Calderon, Linas Kleiza, Amir Johnson, Ed Davis, Terrence Ross, John Lucas III, Quincy Acy, Alan Anderson, Landry Fields, Aaron Gray, Dominic McGuire

Preview: The Raptors are a teams that should be on the rise this year. The made significant strides last year especially on defence when Coach Casey took over the reins. This year the raptors have made some roster upgrades which should help them. They added Kyle Lowry from the Houston Rockets who i believe to be a top 10 point guard in the league. They also added two rookies in Jonas Valanciunas and Terrence Ross who should help them out. Jonas is believed to be a very good centre prospect and has real star potential, who can be an anchor in the middle for the raptors for years to come. The surprise pick of Terrence Ross at #8 in the 2012 draft turned some head, but whoever follows the Raptors knows that this team needed help with shooting from the perimeter last year. Terrence Ross fills the need for a shooter and his shootings skills should complement Derozanís slashing ability. How much the Raptors will improve depends on the health and play of Andrea Bargnani and Demar Derozan. If Bargnani can stay healthy and continue his strong play from early last year and Derozan can have the breakout year this year when he becomes a restricted free agent the Raptors should have a strong shot at the playoffs.

the author did a good job of briefly summarizing the teams in the atlantic division.

The writer hit it on the head...playoffs depend on DD and Il Muggo. DD scares me :rolleyes2:

Great read, the author makes it sound like all 5 teams in the atlantic division will be in the playoff spot.

Bargs and Demar are known quantities, doubt they improve enough to grant playoffs

I could argue that success depends on Lowry and Calderon. They can make or break the game of other players on the team

If we're going to be a playoff team it's going to depend on a lot of things:

- Lowry playing like he has the prev two seasons, especially defensively
- Calderon really getting the bench going offensively
- Bargs/Derozan continuing to improve defensively
- Rookies Valanciunas and Ross need to be contributors
- Lucas if/when injuries occur will need to step up
- Fields needs to be better than last season and more like 20010-11
- Remaining relatively healthy

We can deal with one of those things not really happening but multiple would be a major issue.

I saw the NBATV preview of the Hawks and man, the more I looked at their roster, the less I felt like they were locks for the playoffs. The same goes for Chicago. At this point I would give Philly a better shot at making the playoffs over either of those two teams and they have so many new players I could easily see chemistry, or the lack thereof, being their Achilles heel.
