Raptors NBA schedule released

Quote:
The NBA will officially unveil its schedule on Tuesday, August 6 on NBA TV at 6:00 PM.

Many of the games have leaked already, including most of its Christmas Day schedule. The Miami Heat will play the Los Angeles Lakers, while the New York Knicks will host the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Brooklyn Nets will also hot the Chicago Bulls on Christmas Day.

The Heat are expected to open the regular season against the Bulls.
NBA To Officially Release Schedule On Aug 6 - RealGM Wiretap

Not sure if this will be our first game of the season, but.........

Quote:
The Celtics will open their 2013-14 season against the Toronto Raptors, two NBA sources told the Globe. The official NBA schedule was set to be released Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

The opener against the Raptors will signal the beginning of the Brad Stevens era but also a sign that the Celtics—without Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett—are no longer a major television draw.

They have usually opened the season with a high-profile, nationally televised game against teams such as the Miami Heat the past several years.

Ouch, playing against us means you're no longer a major TV draw.

MASAI on an OTR interview enjoys homecourt advantage. In Denver, it was the high altitude advantage. In Toronto, he pushing for the Sunday noon games.

It looks like they have a real chance to get on a bit of a roll to start off, for once.

Somewhat tough to tell. Not as bad as last year, but at the same time I really despise six of the first nine being away games. Also, it's not like we're facing that many 'easy' teams because some are playoff-fencesitters until proven one way or another. That five game Western conference road trip at the beginning of December is the make or break point for this team imo, if we 1-4 or 0-5 there, it's likely time to throw in the towel.

10 - 10

Unlike some other teams, there won't be so many key new guys learning to play together early. Even the Heat had issues at first.

As usual for us, leaving a tougher decision on how to proceed than a 5-15 start or 15-5 start would.

15-5 we should go for it

That's my prediction. And if that's the case we'd probably have a playoff spot and it would take until mid January to see how it shakes out imo. That's a good enough start just as we would be getting into the tougher part of the schedule which would be the real test. If this team gets back to the defense we played two seasons ago + Gay + improved JV......we will be in most games and this team could be fun to watch. All depends on health.

january is pretty tough too

this year it's good to have a top heavy schedule, if we come up ahead, it's a strong sign the team has a shot. And if we go a reasonable .400 in the first 3 months, tanking will be an easier sell, even though technically we'd have a good shot to recover the deficit in the second half.

Different regime now. If you have guys coming in with something to prove and no longer having the excuse of needing to gel, 8-12 is bad and projects to 33 wins. They are not looking to be a treadmill team anymore.

Demar wants to stay and must know he is auditioning as the starting 2 on a contender.
Lowry, contract year.
Rudy is being challenged to lead and will likely opt out of his final year, so it's kinda like a contract year.
Terrence Ross is 23 in Feb. Show us something.

If they can only compete at a .400 clip, I just hope some of them have stats that are padded enough to look attractive as trade bait.

Tank strong!

I don't see another start like last season. But what I can see is us having a decent November struggle in December and us being 9-10th at Christmas.

I'm so lost on tanking. I want to bad so we can get 2-3 more prospects but at the same time I feel like we're in really good hands with and he knows which route to go.
