Raptors NBA Power Rankings

Raptors #23 (up from 24)

There's quiet optimism north of the border that the Raps can scrap for the East's No. 8 spot. I'll just stop at saying that Valanciunas' unhappy Olympics (and likely slow NBA start) won't discourage me at all about his promise. European coaches are prone to take it slow with young guys.

Biggest drop- Chicago Bulls (-13)

Biggest leap- Brooklyn Nets (+13)

No way in hell Philly should be #7. They lost Iguodala, Williams, Brand and got Bynum. I have a feeling they will be disapointing, and if Bynum has more knee issues look out there will be riots in Philly. They should be where Brooklyn is (#12), those two should switch positions.

Philly will be 7th... in the East. Too much depends on the health of Bynum.

I have no clue how they evaluate shit. If we were 24th last year and we added Lowry, Valanciunas, and Ross and Bargnani played really well and Casey turns us into a top half team defensively and we get one spot? At least 17th.

its possible that teams that finished below us actually improved (BK, Hornets, Warriors....)

Have the hornets really improved that much? or Philly? Jeffb makes a good point about them. After barely making the playoffs Philadelphia loses three of their best players and replace them with Bynum. Bynum is the best big man on the east, but he's injury prone and has never even been the 2nd best player on the team and now he's going to be asked to be the best player and the leader of the team and frankly he's quite immature and i dont know how everything is going to work in his year with the Sixers. They're still a young team and a lot has to go right for them in order to finish ahead of their last year standing.

And orlando ranked ahead of Cleveland?

also Wall is out for 8 weeks apparently so that hurts Wizards shot

11th in the East - same as where we ended last season.

That makes sense to me, a lot of teams in the East improved, too. We have to show that we've improved more than them before we jump in the rankings.

I would say NOH has improved greatly but I think they're one year away from showing how much.

Being a Canadian team also knocks us down 6 spots. So really, it evens out in the end.

Ok guys, here's a nugget for the Jackals here that like to use quotes from a year ago, you can use this to take digs at me in april. Bynum isn't that great. He benefitted from being a non-factor as far as leadership, and performance on a Laker squad that sported VERY good players. He had maturity issues and was kept in check by the leragues hugest ego and likely the leagues most mature PF behind Duncan in Pau.

He has none of that now. He has an average at best team, and he is expected to lead them????? heh.

Philly isn't going to be all that great if you ask me. And on top of that, New jersey isn't gonna be lighting it up either. Toronto might suck, thats believable, but inking these other stiff teams in so high is ridiculous to me.
