NBA Offseason: Best Newcomer (Turkoglu tied for fifth in voting)

Turkoglu (3 votes)
Turkoglu provided the best offseason intrigue when he nearly signed with Portland and then, at the eleventh hour, opted for Toronto. He gives the Raptors a sense of the dramatic on the court, too: His late-game heroics were special in the '09 playoffs. Yes, $53 million is a lot for a guy who shot only 41 percent from the floor (110th in the NBA) and 35 percent from behind the arc (95th) last season, but he'll take some pressure off Chris Bosh and maybe even persuade him to stay.

I'd actually switch Jefferson and Artest but aside from that - +1.

I'd say when it's all said and done, that Marion should be in the top 3.

Top 5 maybe, but 3?

Running with Kidd and Nowitzki. He could fit in really nicely with that squad.

I think he'll have a great season. But top 3 for the matrix is a bit of a stretch imo.

1. Jefferson
2. Artest
3. Sheed
4. Turk
5. Carter/Ariza (someone has to score on Houston)

Got to have Shaq in the top 5. The guy was incredibly effective last year, and showed no signs of slowing down as long he plays limited minutes. Now he's on a team that suits his style of play. The impact may not be so obvious in the regular season, but it will be come playoff time.

I don't have that kind of confidence in Shaq at all. I have a feeling Cleveland is in for a disapointing season. Not the regular season, but they'll be lucky to get through two playoff rounds imo. And if Lebron goes down with a significant injury during the season lookout. That team just isn't very deep (bench) and they need Lebron to carry them.

hmm, interesting top 5, but the big moves would have to go to the contenders. Here's my list -

1.Jefferson
2.Carter
3.Shaq
4.Wallace
5.Artest

HM - Turkoglu and Ariza.
