NBA: Officials missed foul on Bargnani

November 22, 2012, 7:45 pm

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK -- The NBA said Thursday that officials Ed Malloy, John Goble and Violet Palmer missed a foul by Charlotte's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist against Toronto's Andrea Bargnani on a jump shot in the final seconds of the Bobcats' 98-97 victory Wednesday night.

The NBA said Bargnani should have been given two free throws and the clock stopped with approximately 2.4 seconds remaining. Replays showed Kidd-Gilchrist's right hand made contact with Bargnani's left wrist as the Toronto player shot, with the ball coming up well short.

But seriously, what a fking joke, We've never won a game this year when Maloy is part of the officiating crew. Palmer should be fired, she's absolutely terrible.

INSIDER 11-23-2012 12:11 AM

YES! they admitted they messed up! this is fantastic! it makes everything ok now! im so happy.:cwm34:
the bs reffing can go fuck off already. im so sick of this crap. the raps get no respect and the power the refs have in deciding a game is insane.

Don Vito 11-23-2012 12:37 AM

Yeah they "missed" it, what a load of crap. They saw it and didn't want the raptors to win, that's the truth.

Toby 11-23-2012 12:44 AM

I'm just in shock seeing the Raptors make the news.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 11-23-2012 01:08 AM

I feel so much better now that they admitted they made a mistake!

I find it odd they released this to the media, it's rare to see a special announcement for a ref mistake. Is this because we lodged a formal complaint?

neojiphre 11-23-2012 02:03 AM

so they will reward us with the win? i don't really know what this is for

LJkAze 11-23-2012 02:14 AM

The refs screw us for many many years and now they admit but what does that change? Nothing. We have to take action and chant Ref is bullshit every home game; that should put the pressure on those Ref

Bargn88 11-23-2012 02:18 AM

I love how the article called out the refs, let it be known.

Sometimes I think the NBA conspires with the officiating crews before games on how to decide the outcome, and for the most part were on the losing end of those decisions.

This public statement was more directed towards those 3 refs to make it known that they made it way too obvious last night. Need to be more subtle when you try and fuck over the Toronto Raptors.

Them coming out with the article accomplishes nothing.

If they're admitting a mistake, then someone must pay. Suspend the refs of the game. Fine them. Fire them. Do something. Mistakes cannot go unpunished.

MBailey85 11-23-2012 02:47 AM

Its one thing for the league to acknowledge a reoccuring mistake........

Its another thing to do something about what happened and more to prevent it from happening again...

Zhylvis 11-23-2012 05:46 AM

 the crowd of ACC could try this someday

I remember a few years ago the refs said Shaq fouled out but he only had 5 personals. It was against the Hawks I believe, they made Shaq's team play out the final minute again vs Atlanta before they started their next meeting/game.
In that game it didn't even have a significant impact on the outcome but they still replayed it. If the NBA has any integrity, they'll let these two teams play out the free throws and final seconds before their next meeting in Charlotte. That's fair to me.

IMO the NBA should cough up complimentary tickets for all the Rap fans who paid and travelled to the venue to watch their team lose because they're not able to employ staff who can do their job properly.

Was it hard for them to review it, let the bargs shoot ft's and leave 1 second for the bobcats. Would be fair in my opinion. But then again two days after the game say ''sorry, I was wrong'' is pointless.

timdunkit 11-23-2012 10:01 AM

Sad part is, it's not the first time ...

This isn't the first time the Raptors sent tape in to the league. This isn't the first time, according to multiple sources, that the league admitted it got something wrong involving the Raptors this year.

But what can you do? The officials aren't perfect and they are far from the only reason Toronto is losing close games.

The team hasn't found a closer yet. Someone to take control and hit tough shots. Kyle Lowry might be that guy, but he is also so supremely confident that he often makes bad decisions late -- either dribbling into the opposition or hoisting up bad shots (like the one that hit only backboard, just before Walker's and-one play).

Anyone remember the "non-perfect game" a couple years ago in baseball when the umpire at first called the guy out when he was clearly safe and cost the pitcher a perfect game(Gallaraga??). Anyway, the league admited it but didn't reverse the call. Can't change anything after the fact.
