NBA No Defense Team

In the NDPOY race, Bargnani just always just gets beaten out by others in a single season–kind of like Dwyane Wade and the MVP, yes sir.

The Raptors were a horrendous defensive team again, they were at their worst with Bargnani on the floor again (116.3 points per 100 possessions, the highest total I could find among regulars, including Warriors and Cavalier players), and this is just who he is.

Stat snapshot: He plays center, yet Bargnani had 45 blocked shots this season; Wade, who is 8 inches shorter, had 87 blocks.

Sometimes the player gets sucked into the Raptor way. Sometimes the player’s laziness helps create the Raptor way. DeRozan’s right in the middle of that right now.

Couldn't agree more on both counts! Although there's still hope for DD, Bargnani is a lost cause. That Bargnani to Wade blocked shots comparison is so sad!

Wait, why is Bargnani a lost cause on defense and DeRozan isn't? Is it solely based on age?

Also, the "Raptor Way".....that depressed me, just a bit.

while i'm not going to disagree with selections like jefferson, amare and bargs, i just hate how everything has become so statistical when it comes to defence. to me, the only stat that matters on defence is the opponents FG% and measuring that doesn't even prove anything individually. these plus minus stats are on par with jeffb as the most annoying thing to do with basketball discussions.

here's my golden rule

if he plays on golden state, you don't want him on your team. they don't play defence and all their stats are inflated.

Bargnani has had five years to improve. And he has no interest in playing defense. Derozan on the other hand, is younger, quicker, more athletic so imo he has more of a chance to improve on defense. But he has to want to, which at this point is the main question mark. Basically though Bargnani has lost my patience after 5 seasons while Derozan still has me there hoping he improves.

he doesn't even need it, he usually just steps out of the way at the first sign of contact and thats if he isn't caught in his usual defensive trance

i'm starting to think the coachs need to get him drunk before games
