What is with the negativity surrounding JV on these forums. Am I missing something?

Like someone mentioned already, I bet a lot of people had the exact same thing to say about Rubio when he was voted best international player not playing in the NBA last year. Note that Rubio struggled in the euroleague and a lot of people thought he was overrated... and yet now he's kicking ass in the NBA.

The moral of the story is NBA GM's know more about the NBA game and NBA prospects than YOU so stop freaking out. We've seen Jonas play against NBA level talent and hold his own despite an obvious size disadvantage. Also, it's pretty obvious that similar to rubio his skillset is better suited in the NBA working in a system that takes advantage of his abilities.

Whatever his stats are now playing for Rytas means squat - check Rubio stats before he came to NBA did they look impressive? Rytas is bunch of chuckers with yugoslavian coach who sets all his game through perimeter guards and they do not run any plays for Jonas and yet he still is able to post respectable stats in limited minutes. He struggled vs Zalgiris but he played sick, and yet vs best team in Europe ( CSKA ) he posted double double 10pts/11reb in 20 min of play. Why you not talking about it?
And to call him average and ignore his crazy physical tools and potential means you dissing opinions of numerous NBA GM's or NBA scouts... Why don't you apply for the job as a scout, I bet some team will gladly hire such an expert, you probably will come cheaper then most scouts anyway right?
No no no. I do not hate him! At all. I wish all the best for him, but this poll is just complete nonsense. he's definatelly not the best player playing outside NBA. There are plenty players who are much better at this moment. Maybe in the future he will, but he needs to work hard.

The worst thing is, that he gets so much pressure from fans/media, they just distract him..

And he played in LTU NT just because all others could not...

To sum up: He is quite good now. He's young. He's got all the life before him. He's got talent. But he must work hard and then he might be very good...

BUT HE'S not the no1. it's just stupid.
Like to vote DeRozan the best guard in NBA. He's maybe good, but definitely not the best.

I just think he was overhyped. Obviously NBA GM's know more then I do about scouting, player development. His post just pissed me off because it gave me the impression that we would draft another guy not living up to his potential.

We don't know about V and how he's going to adapt, to the NBA so its on a hold right now, can't bash him, but seeing highlights, he looks like hes going to be a real good nba player

well, I can certainly agree that he is not nr.1 international currently not in NBA. Kirilenko is unquestionable nr.1 there. Most of GM's must have forgoten about him or thought that he may be still in NBA
JV is great prospect with skills suited better for NBA game then for whatever game Rytas is playing now. Just needs to gain 15-20 lbs and develop some nastiness in his game and then sky is the limit.

Kirilenko is not nro 1 outside NBA. You think so just because you dont know people who have never played in NBA and never will. Kirlinenkos best years are behind him. I doubt he will ever return to NBA.

And no Jonas is not the nro 1 player outside NBA either. He might me the most potential euro player or something and has been pretty damn good during last summer, but he is not better than everyone in euroleague or elswhere.

Btw. when considering best players not in NBA one should probably also consider guys playing in China (e.g. Smith, Martin, Brooks...). Just to say its not only NBA vs. Euro league.

I know European basketball very well, so your post is way off. AK is only 30 year old and you think his best years are behind him? He was badly underutilized and played out of position by Utah coach since 2007 but his recent play in Eurobasket and Euroleague just shows that he needs to be on a right team and used properly to be stat sheet monster he used to be in 2004-2006. Please tell me better international player who is currently not in NBA then Kirilenko ( that was original question in survey). I dare you to find one. Don't start with Nuggets garbage playing in China, they are US players and even then none of them is better then AK47.
Plus if you think you know European basketball better then me you would know that he is coming back to NBA after this season, find and read his latest interview please.

Me three. At least he and Barg will be playing alongside tough athletic defensive guys like Davis and the two Johnsons.
