Washington may be winless (0-19 !?!?!) on th road, but they are 10-8 at home. Now the Raptors have to play them back to back in Washington....hope their flight left early due to the snow storm.

But following that, they paly.....NO, SA, ORL, MIA.

They are currently 6th from last. But by the end of that stretch, it could be...."With the 5th selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors select...."

HoopsHype - NBA Draft 2011
If that happens.

My early mock for the Raptors and just for fun:
5th pick: Raptors select Kyrie Irving Duke PG - IF he is still on the board. Steal if he is. Some websites are dropping him but a lot or not. Still top 3 player. And I think if he does declare he won't make it past the top 3 sadly. But there is always wishing on our part and hoping this would happen!

Miami Heat pick: Kenneth Faried PF Morehead State - Okay I know he is a PF but this is late first round pick so you just want to pick with value. He is a little undersize but this kid has great energy and can be a steal late for some team if developed right. I watch him go against Ohio State and he had 12points 15rebounds going up against Jared Sullinger/Dallas Lauderdale. Pretty impressive. Very good rebounding and defense. Averaging 13.3RPG 2.1BPG and 2.3SPG. The only problem is he is 6-8. He is very hard worker and never gives up. Needs to work on offense ability. Could developed into a very nice role player which would be nice value for a very late first round pick.

2nd round pick: David Lighty SF Ohio State. Raptors need to improve defense and this is their guy. Lighty is known for one of the best defensive players in College Basketball. Offensive he has really improve his game over the years at Ohio State and can take his man to the hoop or shoot the 3. This year he is averaging 13.1PPG and shooting 45% from 3. A team player who if drafted by the right team and with the right coaching could be a great role player in the future. Kinda like how Bruce Bowen was for the Spurs.

SI ran a great article on Lighty showing how impacts the games without it being notice on the stat sheet.

Just for fun. Go Raptors!

And with the 5th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft (and 1000th post), the Toronto Raptors select Kyrie Irving and move Jose for a center.

You're right. Own to Pistons for Delfino trade quite a bit ago.

Its very easy to trade for a 2nd round draft pick though on draft day so here is hoping Raptors make me happy do that and draft Lighty.

If the kings have first pick they may just select Irving even if he isn't the first projected pick because they need a PG more than we do. If we can pick up a legit center, or SF I wouldn't be mad. We can address our PG problem next year, and move Jose easier because he will only have 1 year left on his contract than.

We have 2 first round picks this year, fuck the 2nd round.

The odds of a 2nd rounder making it are small but sometimes you can find a huge steal.

Marc Gasol, DeJuan Blair, Carl Landry, Glen Davis, and Paul Millsap all taken in the 2nd round the past 4 years. Those are some nice big man.

Fields for NYK this year was a 2nd round draft pick and he has been one of the better rookies this year.

Some other 2nd round draft picks just for fun:
Luis Scola
Carlos Boozer
Kyle Krover
Mo Williams
Gilbert Arenas
Monta Ellis(Someone a lot of people on this board love)
Michael Redd(Go Buckeyes!)

So there have been some great role players that were drafted in the 2nd round. Also some all-stars there. Just have to get lucky and do your scouting.

You forget one of the biggest draft steals. Emanuel Ginobili - 57th pick.

Yep. Another great one and like you said one of the best.

Its hard to remember where all the players went so there is probably quite a bit more I missed that was drafted in the 2nd round.

Never knew Ginobli was selected 57th. Whoever scouted him deserves a huge cash reward from the GM.

Yeap. Don't forget there was only 29 teams and 58 draft picks. Manu was last but one.
Spurs always was good in the Draft.

Wow I did not know Ellis was a 2nd round pick. We can still get good players with our 2 first round picks.

Our scouts suck anyways. I still can't believe we chose Chris Bosh > Dwayne Wade.

Ellis was not only a second round pick, but Golden State picked him one spot before our second round pick that year. Who did our pick turn out to be? Roko Ukic.
