NBA.com: Race for #1 pick

Quote:

Race for the No. 1 draft pick
The serious contenders: Cavs, Kings, Nets, Timberwolves and a darkhorse -- the Raptors. The Kings won't "win" this competition; even though there's a brutal stretch ahead (11 of 12 against teams ranked in the top five of the East or West), they've lost some heartbreakers lately. They're not that bad. Same for the Wolves, who have Kevin Love and Michael Beasley. It'll come down to two teams, and the vote goes to the Cavs over the Nets. Because the Cavs seem to want it more

The Nets are going on a run soon. They won't even be in this thing by the time London comes around.

It's nice that we're considered the darkhorse...

Don Vito 01-25-2011 09:59 PM

Lol... imagine if the Cavs slip in the draft and pick after 5, that'll be a disgrace.. they will be stuck with jamario moon and joey graham

The article makes the race sound exciting.

What's so exciting about losing games?

A last place finish does not guarantee you the #1 pick. If I'm not mistakened, there's a 25% chance to win the lottery for the last place team.

Cleveland will win the race, too bad there ain't no Lebron James in the draft.
:yeah:

We're liable to win the lottery, since it's considered a "weak" draft. In 06, weren't we the 6th worst team? The only time we have a shot at winning the draft is in shitty draft years.

winning it in any year is a good thing.

were considered a darkhorse just because of our quality bench, another team that should be considered is the suns, once nash or lopez goes down, ouch

I think Stern will "award" Cleveland the #1 pick. Hopefully he shows some sympathy for the Raps as well.

If Cavs get it...what are the chances that they don't take Jared Sullinger from Ohio State?
He was born in Columbus

Everyone reads so much into every little thing these days no matter what happens, and many people are conspiracy theorists.

So making sure Cleveland gets the #1 pick instead of #2 or #3 makes the league sooooo much money?

LightsOut 01-26-2011 01:39 AM

lol no but having a potential star player will boost there attendance, not just cleveland all the shitty city teams

They currently average 20,000 and are #2 in the NBA in attendance. No matter if they get the #1 or #3 the fans there will be hyped thinking he's the next big star imo.

LightsOut 01-26-2011 01:46 AM

ye but I don't see those fans still showing up in the future with these no name guys lol I have a feeling the cavs will be the new, old clippers
