NBA.com: Coaches on the hotseat

John Schuhmann: The four obvious candidates are John Kuester, Kurt Rambis, Jay Triano and Paul Westphal. And it’s possible they could all be gone by the time the playoffs start. I wouldn’t want to say that any of those guys deserve to be fired, because none of them have been given a lot of talent to work with, and I’m not in those locker rooms or on those practice floors every day to see if they’re the problem or if they just have too many knuckleheads on those rosters.

Sekou Smith: This is easy pickings. Just glide down the standings and start plucking names out of the hat, John Kuester, Jay Triano, Keith Smart, etc. But if any coach has endured a more disastrous season, on and off the floor, than Kuester has in Detroit he needs to show his face now. No one else had their steam stage a shoot around boycott this season.

If Triano gets fired before the playoffs, my life will be complete.

Triano isn't going anywhere.

I will pray that your life becomes much more significant!

If Jay stays then that means that BC is looking at another season of struggle. If Jay is fired, that means that BC is looking to add some pieces and make a run back to respectability. If the goal is playoffs, Jay should go.

Respectability? By this, I can only assume you mean 8th or 9th place.

If we want to be any good and really challenge, we have to be patient, maintain stability - particularly on the coaching front.... and draft well.

I agree on the stability part. In fact, most BC detractors criticize him for not holding the fort... now with a young team, they are doing that and many keep calling for drastic change!

Stability on the coaching front is knowing Triano should go and sign a real coach to get these players pointed in the right direction. Keeping Jay here another year then letting him go isn't exactly stability. As long as Triano is here these players will continue to spin their wheels in the mud, especially on defense.

Well, I don't know what BC has in mind or what he can really do to improve the team significantly. If the plan is to stay patient, then Jay staying is fine by me.

i dont think so. people are preaching about defense here(as they should) and triano is not helping. young players need to develop, and we need to do this while they're young. with triano, our "future" will develop bad habits:dead:

RaptorsFan4Life 03-25-2011 08:17 PM

Why would you fire a coach for being bad in a rebuilding year? We are suppose to be bad and we already exceeded expectation, most people though we'd get like 15 wins and be the 2nd worst team in the league next to the Cavs.

FoldedLaundry 03-25-2011 09:03 PM

If anything, Triano will stay or a new head coach will be hired leaving either PJ or Triano as assistant.
