NBA.com: 5 Teams Lebron should consider

Quote:

3. Toronto Raptors: General manager Masai Ujiri has already overseen a couple minor miracles in shedding the salaries of Rudy Gay and Andrea Bargnani, so what’s one more? The books still aren’t as clear as in Philly, but it can work. Re-signing Kyle Lowry might be out the window, but how about Greivis Vasquez, budding, young star DeMar DeRozan, LeBron, Patrick Patterson and Jonas Valanciunas? I’m pretty sure coach Dwane Casey would be good with it.

Vasquez - Vet- De Colo
Derozan - Ross - Fields
Lebron - Ross - Vet
Johnson - Patterson - Psycho
Valanciunas - Vet - Hayes

Not sure that team gets out of the second rnd. I guess it depends on which vets we get...

LOG 06-22-2014 12:51 PM

I'm pretty sure we would trade Hayes and Fields

Johnson is gone from the team also. It wouldn't get out of the second round.

I don't think LeBron will leave Miami, but I could see Miami going after Patterson or Vasquez.

jeffb 06-22-2014 01:22 PM

How is it that we couldn't have Lowry at 10-11mil and not have Lebron? What is it with other teams having 2-3 max guys and we can't get one without gutting our team? It always seems like when we have one expensive player we have a bench of nobody's and we never have enough dough to get anyone else...

We could sign Lowry and GV do it. LBJ has to opt out and be a UFA, then sign and trade with miami and a third team involved and give up Fields, Salmons (extend him to 7 mil), Hayes and likely 3 1st round picks (2015, knicks/nuggest in 16, 2017). That would allow us to exceed the cap. Or TH, Novac, Hayes, Fields is 18 million.

Salmons actually provides us some flexibility right now.

KL/GV/NDC
DD/GV/Ross
LBJ/Ross/Draft
AJ/PP
JV/AJ/BAE

Rest depends on who goes and stays but TH, SN, Vet min.

Would be a scary team. Compete for the championship. Top 10 in offense/defense. I'm dreaming but it woud be a ridiculously great trade for us and payback for the Heat giving us one crap 1st for Bosh.

take demar off that team and it gets to the second round with a 3d performer at the sg spot

Northern Neighbour 06-22-2014 03:09 PM

Make it happen MU.

Honestly, with that team I would look to deal Demar and future picks for a stud PF and start Ross at SG. Ross would get a ton of open shots with LBJ playing next to him. Then you add a veteran SG behind TRoss, someone that can defend and do a little scoring. Or even look to land a player like Sefolosha.

Lowry- Vasquez- De Colo
Ross -Sefolosha? - Fields
Lebron - Vet - draft?
Star PF - Patterson - Psycho
Valanciunas -Vet

^ One of the best defensive teams in the NBA 1 through 3 and JV is improving in that aspect.

LOG 06-22-2014 03:13 PM

agree Lebron needs shooters, it would be good idea to keep Novak

Northern Neighbour 06-22-2014 03:28 PM

I think DD would be part of a sign-and-trade for James with another salary and draft picks heading the other way.

Then look at signing a player like Diaw to backup at the 4 and 5 spots. The team doesn't necessarily need a stud PF. It will need to get a reliable backup at the 2 and 3 spots. Someone like Tucker would be a nice fit.

???????????? this wins ECF easy. Who's in the East afterwards? Indiana?

agreed. lebron is a monster on his own. him finally having a true center plus raps have shooters and demar will never be good as prime wade, but he is better then wade's current self.

however, lebron taking his talents to the north is as less likely to happen then canada winning the world cup...

What moves will we have to make to sign Lebron? If we trade Fields with no salary coming back, renounce rights to Vasquez and PP, and buyout Salmons, will we have enough room to get him? And if we sign him would we still be able to re-sign Lowry using bird rights? I imagine his cap hold would prevent that but if someone could clarify that'd be great.

It's not gonna happen but it's interesting nonetheless.

Read page 20, DanH explains how much cap would we have. It's not exactly what you asked, but you'll get the idea

And again I reiterate that there's no way that happens without losing draft picks, which should not even be considered an option.
