Apparently also looking at Gregory Echenique (confirmed) and Darius Theus to play on the summer league team.

It only makes sense to me to bring him as a project if we're tanking. He's not gonna come into the league and be good right away, he's more of a 3-4 year project to me. In a league with too much talent at PG, that's not very useful.

He clearly isn't as good as you all seem to think he is or he would of got picked. Not hard to figure out. He'll likely develop but who knows.

I don't think he's that good, at least not right now and I'm not even sure he's going to become anything, but from what I've seen I think he's already as good or if not appears to have the potential to be better than a bunch of the 3rd string PGs in the league right now
with 3rd string guys at any position, you can easily move 1 in and out of the roster and replace them with someone else and not see much of a difference in value to the team
even right now it would have given him a chance over our last season backups on JL3 and Telfair

I think its a no brainer to bring him. He has potential and yes he's Canadian.

This is how you find gems,by taking a chance on a low risk player who's been passed over. If the Spurs overlooked Parker and Ginobli just because everyone else did then where would they be?

Sign him,let him play in the Summer League then compete for a roster spot during training camp. If he shows growth, development and the ability to be coached and learn, keep him as a PG prospect. He would be a young 6'3 player on a team with weak depth at the Point.

I don't disagree at all, I'm speaking more to the people that are saying he's got amazing talent or things of the sort. They'res clearly massive holes all over his game or people would of gave him a chance in a weak draft.

I too also think he could someday be a backup-PG or somethin along those lines, but it could take years, and who knows yet what Masai has planned for the team.

We never know what scouts/GMs know or see what they see. But there's obviously something thats making every team look way beyond him. I'm as curious as everyone else as to what that may be though. Still, regardless of what he was hyped to be years prior, I don't think much of him, country means nothing to me in terms of sports honestly.

Really?

Couldn't we have bought the 60th pick and had him train in Europe for a year?

How much would that have cost?

Can someone remind me if this means that the Heat have rights to sign him or anything of that nature? Wouldn't it still be his decision in the end who he signs with?

I don't think they have any right regarding his signing (if he gets one) but they definitely have the inside lane because they've already established a connection with him and his agent.

Strengths:

Size and length - 6'2" with a 6'6" wingspan.

Very quick, and a very good ballhandler.

Competitive, and good defensively.

Intelligent player, very well spoken, communicates effectively.

Weaknesses:

Not a great shooter (but has shown improvement, and he can get better).

Too many turnovers (should get better with good coaching and maturity).

Gambles too much on D (again, should get better with good coaching and maturity).

He has all the natural talent, he just needs some refinement. His weaknesses are correctable.

good for myck. hope he gets a ring. i think he can be a good pointguard. it'll help him, being exposed to that calibre of player (assuming he makes the roster).

was hoping he'd have gotten a call the moment the draft was over and offered a contract. he was probably hurt after seeing toronto choose to not snap up a pick to take him—surely the team could have acquired one of the final 2nds, if only for PR—they don't want him.
