Long-standing hate vs. short memories

Go!

Based on the context of each situation there should be no contest here but I know it won't turn out that way.

On that top ten list, number 4 should never be held against him. Dude went to his Graduation, good for HIm. And he missed a very tough, contested shot, lots of greats do it. For me that was the beginning of the end right there, guy gets slagged for attending his university graduation, something he should be very proud of.

so he had an excuse for quitting on his team? Because people didn't like his focus not being on his team for the most important game of the team's history? Yep - I think we should take all the hate back.

He quit that was wrong, but to bust your balls for a team only to get slagged for going to your graduation is pathetic.

Coincidentally in that Game 7, Carter played 48 minutes,
Had 20 points
9 assists
7 rebounds
2 blocks
3 steals
50% from the floor
8-9 from charity stripe.

It had nothing to do with his play that game. It had an extremly detrimental effect on his teammates...

My boat didn't arrive in Canada in time for that playoff series. I never really understood why people don't want him to fly to his graduation and fly back. I mean what else do you want him to do for that 3 hours?

It's got to be Vince for the way he left. If/when Bosh leaves, I'll have no problem with it, and if I were in attendance to a game, would cheer him for what he has done for this team, and this city.

Vince however, went about things the wrong way, whined, sulked, and then quit on his team. While it doesn't sting so much now, I lost all respect for him for the way he went out. It could have been a lot more professional, and a lot more amicable, however Vince chose his own demise.

For Turk, I really don't like the way he has handled his off-season, claiming to be the "victim" here, however, whatever happens with Turk, 10 years from now, VC's way of leaving will be looked upon a lot more negatively, and rightfully so.

Carter never had as bad as a year as Turkoglu just had, statistically speaking.

Turkoglu quit in game 3 of the season.

He showed up out of shape. Was a non factor early on. Never hustled beyond a handful of games. I could go on.

Vince at least did something here and I'm slowly starting to forgive him. Dude was immature. Turk was a vet. He gets my vote.

Due to the degree of difficulty, I would usually give him a pass on missing that tough shot. But it's possible the Raps never would have been in that situation if he had properly prepared for the game. Two days earlier, Carter dropped 39 points. For the Raps to win that series, they needed Carter playing that way. The only reason game 7 was even close was because AD played huge. Aside from the terrible, terrible shooting effort, Carter contributed. But it wasn't the best he could do. There wasn't much room for error, so it was stupid to increase the chances of having a slow start to the game due to distractions. And the Raps ended up starting slowly that game; they were down by 10 after the 1st quarter.

Acie might be right about it having an effect on some members of the team. Carter put himself ahead of his teamates. You shouldn't have to deal with that kind of shit when you're trying to focus for a game 7. 100% of your mental energy should be devoted to the task at hand. That is why these dudes are paid millions of dollars. Sacrifices are made. They don't have typical 9-5 jobs. All kinds of other NBA players have to miss out on things, yet they accept it. You think these guys like playing on Christmas? No, they probably don't, but they are compensated extremely well for doing so. Carter showed a lack of professionalism when you place his behaviour within the context of what NBA players are expected to do in exchange for their MASSIVE salaries.

And I'd like to point out that he already missed his REAL graduation date. He wasn't graduating with his freshman class; he was graduating 5+ years after he started his degree. He could have postponed it further. If graduation day was so important to him, then why not pick up the diploma at the December commencement? Worst case scenario he misses the shoot around for an average regular season game in December. It is extremely selfish to insist on going to the May commencement. Typically the only real difference between the two commencement dates is the size of the show and the profiles of the speakers. Maybe poor little Michelle was worried about the size of the party?

I find it very hard to believe that UNC would not have allowed him to trot his celebrity ass across the stage in December. Universities are constantly trying to milk wealthy alumni for money. Given that they will come calling in the future, Carter had leverage.

So, in that respect, I consider this a huge "problem solving" fail, at the very least. If he explored this option but was rejected by the UNC registrar's office, then I'll take back that criticism. But I don't recall any indications from the Carter camp that they had pursued that option.

But aside from the scheduling problems and Carter's inability to work around them properly, I think his family took way too much pride in an accomplishment that really didn't mean as much as his mother thinks it does. Far too often these ceremonies are about the family or the parents' pride, not the actual students'. You go to school for an education, not a party. You still get the education and the diploma regardless of whether or not you walk across the stage in May. Throw a kick-ass party in December for fuck's sake.

I don't even see how this is close. Carter should be winning in a landslide. Were the Turkey voters not around for the VC days? The two are not even comparable.

I picked hedo, can't stand even looking at the goof. His game is brutal and i wanted no part of watching that clown play basketball on a daily basis. Now that may be on colangelo but the fact that this fucken goof SOB actually has nerve to think he deserves the ball more and actually has the nerve to think he can dictate where he goes(change of tone of recent) really pisses me off. The fact that he smokes as a weight loss regiment or that the can smile off a season worth's of piss poor performances and laziness. Hedo is so damn worthless that it pains me to see my team at the mercy of this inbred looking walrus.

Man the Vince hate is soo old, and look how it worked out for him, he knows he screwed up . Hedo an over achiever that never should have been and heíll leave Toronto and never look back unless to crack a few insults. If his career goes to shit it wont matter because he overachieved and stole the Raptors money. As far as Iím concerned both player are quitters but at the very least vince entertained you. Hedo was nothing but shit from day one and I honestly donít even want to see him play well as a raptor , I donít want him to suit back up and redeem himself . I want him to pack his fucking bags and be overpaid and lazy elsewhere
