Default More Hump next year

He doesn't take the best shots... but I'll be damned, he's the only player on this roster with actual guts. He had some really good games the first half of this season, then we pretty much totally benched him, even when Bosh got injured.

I do believe that with better coaching and instruction, Hump still has upside.

ALL HAIL HUMP (because he's the only player who is exempt from the embarrasment of this Orlando series... and Primoz)

I love how you say "with better coaching and instruction."

Hey bud, Mitchell has gotten more out of Hump in the last two seasons than Jerry Sloan ever did.

I can see upside in Hump. But why he feels the need to be the offensive black hole is beyond me. Like why the hell does he think he NEEDS to score everytime he gets the ball?

Like we've been saying all year long, if he could get over that mental block, he could be awesome.

I myself support Humpfries 100%. I can only assume there are bigger reasons he doesn't play. Defensively he isn't the best as far as team defence. I just can't help but think he might have helper in that series. Hacking Howard and taking it at him constantly to draw fouls.

I have no idea why Toronto stayed away with the traditional method of eradicating the pestual problem of 7 foot Wunderkind's in the paint. You make um earn it from the line by hacking them, and you force them to put themselves in the line of fire by constantly making them move and potentially foul guy taking it to the rim.

All Howard did was stand in the paint and grab rebounds.

Of all Toronto players, KH is the one guy that has shown no fear taking it to the hole, he loves it, and I bet he would have attacked had he had the chance.

The problem with Humphries is that he thinks he's fuckin Jordan and goes for 18 foot fadeaways. He has to be told that he's going to be a rebounding machine and garbage specialist. His range should be no more than 3 feet. If that happens and he puts in a lot of work, he could be exactly what this team needs - rebounding specialist.

Hump is not a solution... he is just a role player and not even a good one at that.

What this team needs are, at least, two new starters to fill positions 2 & 3... some athletic, creative scorers... moves like resigning Delfino or trading/keeping Kapono are minor moves.

IMHO... BC should look to move TJ & Rasho... draft young aggressive slasher or rebounder and to make sure that Bargnani improves his game.

Really?

The kid's only 22 years old. If Bargnani can improve his game, certainly Hump can too.

Bargnani has much more skill and he needs to improve his game... hump, on the other hand, would need to learn new skills since he has none... he is a taller JYD that thinks that he is KG... if he was to accept his role he could be useful but...

Hump or GTFO.

He'll be traded though, Smitch obviously has some kinda beef with him.

Well, part of that is age (what was he, like 19-20 in Utah?), and being given more of a chance. I'll give Sam props on that, he does give players time.

What I meant by coaching and instruction though is specific instructions to not take shots. Tell Hump that if he takes more than 1 contested jumpshot he'll be taken out of the game, and maybe he won't do it. Tell him we need him specifically to rebound. I dunno, whatever it is, we weren't getting through to him this year when we needed him to be smarter and help us, which he most definitley could.

I like that you didn't say it was because of the depth of their front court.

I'm pretty sure Sam had a rule in place for Hump about not taking jumpshots because I remeber the media asking about it and Hump telling them he would submit tape of him draining them from all over the place to get him to reverse it.

Humphries is too undersized and underpowered to play the C consistently. Bargnani at least has the physical attributes, underdeveloped as they are. Andreea could work hard and build up his strength, Humphries will never grow another inch. As a role player, he's great - but if anybody thinks he has the tools to be good starter at the C position, he's got to be delusional ...

Hump as a centre? No thanks? As a starter at this point in his career? No thanks.
