Moon Gets The Starting SF Gig

Sam apparently confirmed today that Jamario will be his starting SF to start the season. :)

Moon will be back in his usual role as the team's starting small forward tonight when Toronto faces the Philadelphia 76ers to open the NBA regular season.

"The last week of practice, he started doing some of the things we wanted him to do," Mitchell said.

Yay.............

Picking the starting small forward is like picking what way you want to die:

Shot through the head
Stabbed through the heart
Blown up

The result of all is still the same.............:dead:

I don't think it matters who starts. The starter isn't going to play dominant minutes.I think the time will be split between Jamario/Joey and Adams getting a few minutes. And the same can be said at the 2 with AP/JK splitting the minutes.

It doesn't matter who starts ... anyway we don't have anyone at SF to really influence the game too much. If is Joey or Jamario is the same ... is important who gets more minutes in the end.

I heard the JK was injured and might not play today

Yup, supposedly he's going to be a game-time decision. Either way we're playing with a very short bench tonight. :(

i like Moon starting actually, and ive never been a big fan of his either, but moon will do the dirty work and play hard.
as long as he doesnt jack up any dumb 3's, then i'll be happy.

JK initially complained of a stinging irritation in his hands. It turned out they were on fire.

Anyone else here thinking Moon may have already lost his starting gig?

Nope. If you have ever played sports before, you would know how valuable a Moon type player can be. He's always looking for the rebound, the steal, the deflection and generally brings a lot of energy to the floor. That lets Bosh and Co. concentrate on other parts of the game like scoring.

Just knowing there is a scatterbug running around gives you confidence to play a looser style.

And he never asks for the ball or has to "get his".

Note that not a single negative whisper from any of the players has ever been heard.

true Raptorman, I agree.

Some types of players also have very short leashes, the moment they ease up, ya ota benh um, keep um hungry.

I disagree though. As athletic as he is you'd expect him to be somewhat of a lockdown defender on the perimeter, but he gets exposed from possession to possession. To be honest it seems like he's more content hanging around the paint and pretending to be able to block shots than actually getting down and playing solid on-ball defense.

His rebounding is overrated - I've never seen the guy actually get down and dirty and block out, the only rebounds he gets are the ones that fall into his hands or can be jumped for.

As far as deflections go, I actually find Kapono does a better job of covering the passing lanes than does Jamario.

Having said all that it's not that I think Jamario is uncapable, I just think he's comfortable, and doesn't apply himself.
