Moon: Content or Lazy?
Maybe its just me, but do you think Doug might be implying that Jamario's a little lazy? Or, could it be that he's content at this point of his life? :confused2:

Keep in mind, this is the same player who doesn't read the opposing teams scouting reports too. :bored:

Yeah, didn't really quite catch what you meant there

LX 09-28-2008 01:31 PM

I think he meant to type - who doesn't bother reading the scouting reports.

There is a reason why this guy, with all his natural talent, didn't make it into the NBA for years and was rotting in d-league instead.

it looks like we've found our new beating toy since TJ's gone now! i guess its time to stop appreciating his role with us since he's only making the league minimum this season.

doug smith's implying that he's lazy in a nice roundabout way, implying that the uppers are upset with him for not being at the training camp early. personally, until mitchell addresses it, it means nothing to me. being that mitchell has seemingly taken moon under his wing dispels that myth imo.

also, if you read smiths comments on his Q&A

4. Moon has lost his staring job this week. It will take an amazing performance to win it back, and he needs to be that good this year.

4. Nothing he did this week ensures he won’t start, that decision will be made at camp.

stick by your guns, dougie. don't write something on how upset the uppers are, then change your stance after a reader responds to what you were leading on to begin with.

Not reading scouting reports made a very deep impression on me. He's happy to be where he is and seeing how he's going to be 28 soon there's little incentive for him to improve his game because there's only so much he can do in the remaining 4 years he has probably left in the NBA.

As for Doug's comments I hope he made them while wearing his Captain Obvious suit.

I think you'll see Moon play for a contract this year and have a decent season numbers-wise.

dfunkie1 09-28-2008 08:39 PM

not reading scouting reports is your interpretation of a second hand quote. whose to say that he doesn't watch game films or work with players who are familiar with guarding them? you don't. mitchell, regardless of what you think of him does not stand of lazy efforts. i really doubt he'd pat moon on the back for not spending any time studying his up-coming assignments when he's specifically in the game for defense.

what makes you think that a 28 year old has no incentive to improve their game? i think that's a load of crap. moon said himself that there's no guarantees, so to think that he sat around and did nothing to improve his game is a little silly.

especially, like you said yourself, when he'll be playing for a contract

We're making a lot of assumptions here based on two or three blogs by Doug "Jose Made the All-Star Team" Smith.

And funk is right, it appears as though we've found our new whipping boy now that TJ is gone.

Moon also said in an interview on Raptors Today that hes worked with both Evans and one of the other coaches (cant remember who now) and he has been working on all aaspects of his game. Doesnt sound like someone who is lazy to me.

I think it's funny that people talk about the scouting reports.

The entire team has to watch the tapes, it's part of the job, Moon was only referring to not getting to caught up in scouting reports. Thats all. You can be damn sure that he wasn't waiting out in the hall while the team was in thier game prep meetings.
