Default Moon and Bargnani in Allstar rookie Game

So they both made it to the rookie/sophomore game respectively.

I guess Bargnani is somewhat of a surprise to some.

Personally, i see the Allstar weekend as all about names, and regardless, il Mago is a recognizable name.

I am surprised Bargnani made it.

Who didnt make it? I remember a thread on RGM of peoples lists of who should make it, and Bargs wasnt on any of the lists, so I'm really wondering whos missing out. I'm gonna go check...

I'm surprised Bargnani made it as well, but when you think about it, it's good from a global standpoint as well.

No no doc, the guys who should be there over Bargs that arent.

And now that I looked, these are the guys that should be there over Bargs:

1. Josh Boone, 2. Craig Smith, 3. Kelenna Azabuike.

I guess since Bargs was the #1 pick and has star potential they picked him, whatever.

I've always liked Bargs but those guys are way more deserving, especially Boone who has avgd like a double double the last 2 months.

The NBA wants this to be a global game. How many more people are going to watch the game if Boone, Smith or Azabuike is selected over Bargnani? Not much more. However, you put Bargs in the game and you have a lot more Italians tuning in.

And that springs the question would the NBA rather give the nod to guys that deserve it or guys that will help ratings, I guess we got the answer. Same BS as the allstar starters voting system by the fans I guess, but this was controlled, which is why its disappointing for those 3 guys I mentioned who deserve it over AB

they need a center, and other than josh boone, there is no other player. And boons is not even close to Andreea, he's not even close to humphries for that matter - he's just an energy guy that plays for a shitty team. Sure, Andreea has struggled a little, but considering he had a great rookie season, and the few games he played well this season - it's no surprise to me he got selected.

Boone is much better on defence and much more efficient on offence. Averaging nearly a double double in the last 2 months is no joke, neither is his shotblocking ability. To say hes not close to Humphries just shows youre talking out of your ass. Mitchell would be starting Boone if he was on our team right now.

boone's been tearing it up lately...
the guy pulled down like 20 rebs a week ago.
NJ is loving that kid.

about the allstar game though; andrea will be invisable on the floor... he'll chuck a few bricks and we wont even remember him playing.
Moon on the other hand will impress.
this type of game suits moon perfectly; fast breaks, big dunks... he's going to have a blast.

I like Sean Williams, but he's been kind of quite lately.

actually during the last game, Chuck was saying that Andrea really hated the rookie game last year...

Oh well, suck it up bigman as this is the last one you'll have to do.

Yeah it's really not geared for guys like him and Garbo...i remember Garbo was just going after every defensive rebound he could and taking the ball out to throw in after a score just to be invovled

I remember garbo saying the good thing is to be part of the game, not playing it. He said the game was pretty ridiculous.

I din't see boone this year since the first game when I don't even rembember if he was playin, but unless he suddenly became a different player, he's kind of like a poor's man varejao ...

That being said, judging by his stats only, there's nothing spectacular there, he's a 7 and 7 in 22 minutes per game, andreea is 9 and 3 in 22 minutes per game. He's shooting 49%, which is kind of lousy considering he doesn't shoot a lot of jumpers, he's shootin 35% from FT which would make Ben Wallace cringe, and doesn't do anything else, no blocks, no steals, no assists. And he's playing true center, not like Andreea, so he should get at least more blocks. Yes, and Humphries is averaging 6ppg and 4 rbg in 12 minutes per game, so he has better stats per minute compared with Boone. And Boone is playing on the court at the same time as Carter/Kidd/Jefferson, so nobody gives a damn about him -he's free to roam and do his rebounding thing.

So why would he be picked over Andreea who:
1. has more skill
2. plays for a winning team (which means less garbage time and garbage stat padding)
3. had a much better 2007

Sorry, but I'd take Andreea any day.
