The MLSE had been negotiating with Raptors president Bryan Colangelo over weekend on a return in a "significant" capacity, sources tell Y!

Hopefully this is the Brian Burke strategy.

LOL, they want to keep BC but have Masai Ujiri as the GM, sounds almost exactly like the Leafs Burke situation

would be pretty funny to have Masai take BC's job, too bad it wouldn't be a swap between GM and assistant between BC and Masai, they obviously want to keep BC on so he can see his roster potentially succeed and the only way to do that is to promote him to an even higher office role. Probably going to be some senior advisor role

Either he's in or he's out. Any other half-baked solution is sheer idiocy. BC would just be too tempted to meddle and the media would continue sucking up to him and undermine whoever would be GM.

Sources: Bryan Colangelo to remain at MLSE in "corporate" role -- non basketball -- as search continues for head of #Raptors organization.

At least we will have something different to talk about than a point guard controversy. :cookie:

I believe if this happens its a good thing. We keep BC on and get a new GM, only makes the minds in the room that much smarter

I'm surprised that Colangelo agreed to that role. I would have backed out and pursued an assistant GM/GM job.

I'm guessing he will take and eventually move on as a GM somewhere else when the opportunity is there.

Lets not jump the gun yet until we know something from MLSE and not another source. Only cerainty is that something is going on with BC and TL and the media is having a field day with all this - just look at what all of this has done here, Jeffb's post count is sky rocketing

no doubt, the media has created a whirlwind with the whole BC situation, but i fail to see where i jumped the gun. this whole rumour doesn't make sense to me. i think it'd be a bad move by BC unless he was getting the cash owed in the final year of his contract. otherwise, it looks as if he's stepping away from the managerial side of the game.

Didn't he have already have a big part in non-basketball stuff, like the development of Maple Leaf Square/Real Sports? Seems like a good fit or a natural progression.

Apparently it's on the marketing/financial/business side of all things MLSE.

Its funny how this is the one option that no one believed would happen (re the poll)......I wonder how this will all pan out.
