Smith and Jonesy were on PTS. They reported that the MLSE board met first with Casey, and then with Colangelo individually.

Hmmm.... well at least it sounds as though MLSE has taken note and is actually INTERESTED in the team.

That's a good thing.

you know MLSE is cheap and will let Colangelo expire but expect Casey to hit the hardwood with Bryan end of season...

At the end of a regularly scheduled board of governors meeting, Toronto Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo met with ownership to discuss the state of the Toronto Raptors.

Tom Anselmi, president and chief operating office of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, confirmed that there were “informal discussions about basketball” following the board’s holiday luncheon. Anselmi went on to say that Colangelo still has authority over basketball decision making, although certain moves would continue to be subject to board approval.

Speculation is swirling around the Raptors following the team’s 4-19 start. The Post reported earlier in the week that the status of head coach Dwane Casey has been discussed by the front office, although Colangelo flatly denied that. Casey is the third head coach to serve under Colangelo during his seven-season stint with the Raptors. Colangelo came to the Raptors in February 2006. The Raptors made the playoffs in Colangelo’s first two full seasons on the job, and have missed the playoffs in each of the following four.

Colangelo’s deal with the Raptors lasts through this season. MLSE has the option to exercise the 2013-14 season on that deal. Casey is under contract through next year.

MLSE will let this play out so that they can dump Colangelo in the off-season.

watch them exercise that option because they're too lazy to go out and look for someone.

If we want to compete next year, go in the direction of hiring Jerry Sloan and bringing in a new GM. If you want to tank; BC has to go moreso than Casey. I can't see them firing BC until the end of the season. But then again, if they did, I would prefer Embry over Stefanski in the caretaker role.

If we retain our pick this year, I can see them competing next year. If we lose our pick to OKC, they will probably tank to make a run at Wiggins.

Anselmi: Bryan, please have a seat. We have much to talk about.

BC: Listen, Tom. I can explain, give me another chance. I have just been out of focus lately...

Anselmi: What nonsense are you saying? Keep doing your thing, we are very pleased that the Raptors have jumped from 19th to 8th in fan attendance.

Good gravy. After reading around a bit it sure sounds to me like it was a routine status meeting that they would have had any year. Every company in the world does this around this time of year.

Quote:
It remains unknown what was discussed, who called it or whether the meeting was pre-scheduled. One team source described it as "a quick update" and that it involved team President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo giving the board a briefing on where the team currently stands

I honestly don't get the hate for casey i mean what does he have to work with? A bunch of castoffs that no one else wanted (a.k.a linas kleiza, pietrus, john lucas, landry fields). Rookies with zero experience, a 7 foot chucker who can not shoot or rebound.. I mean really? Phil Jackson would not be able to get this team to the playoffs.

IMO most of the blame is on BC, he is the one who has assembled this roster, and he better be let go before the end of the season, I do not trust BC making any more decisions for the raps.

That's not to say some of the blame isn't on Casey.. Any time you are 4-19 everyone should be held accountable, but BC is definitely the most responsible for the hole the raps find themselves in.

If BC is still our gm at the draft I doubt a number one pick will help us at all, he will probly find a way to draft Bargs 2.0

Fuck it, sign some d-league prospects and get this team up to mediocre status, OKC must get 10-14th pick. I don't even know why I bother writing anything, or better yet, reading this board, this is god damn depressing. We all know very well that things will never quite work out around here.

lol how are d-league prospects going to get us up to mediocre status? I wish it was that easy. Colangelo will actually have to acquire talent that people want, which he hasn't been able to do in 7 years here.

its pretty simple clean house,

its over for bc, bargnani, and casey in a raptor uniform

also i believe if hte new g.m comes he is going to clean house with a complete overhaul of the roster, i could see within 2 years that the only player left standing will be jonas

by the way derozan talks a lot, acts like one of the leaders on the team but come on lets get real, the guy can't play defense, his offense is inconsistent, he can't dribble, doesn't get into the lane enough, and lacks overall basketball iq,

he hasn't earned the right
