Yeah except there was terrible role definition, so excelling was really just empty stats and playing the wrong way too often. I'm much happier with an emphasis on defense, expecting players to live within roles on offense, and looky looky - something like a 5th pick or better in the next draft.

I think you need to see both - that they are capable of producing given ideal circumstances offensively - last year's offensive system allowed players like Ed Davis and DeRozan to show they have the ability to score, and at least moderately efficiently, in a certain style. And now that they are moving into a specific role under a more structured system, you can tweak how you approach these players with the knowledge gained from their "free run" last year. Casey doesn't really seem to have made a lot of adjustments (offensively) yet, but with time I think we'll see these players begin to replicate last year's success (again, offensively) - and soon, with this stretch of games at home giving Casey some real practice time.

Stepping up and failing miserably in late game situations.

I think JJ should have been on Lin to end the game last night. Same coverage, same plan, but a long guy that would have really had a chance to stop that shot.

Thats a change I'd make that Casey didn't, but what the fuck do I know.... maybe there was a reason they didn't do that. who know's.

You're preaching to the choir buddy hahaha... I was intrigued after that summer league game... and completely sold after watching his debut against the Nets.

He's just a smart, smart kid who plays the game the right way. In today's world of NBA chuckers it's a refreshing change.
