Just reading up on this guy...he seems a little off-side. Got kicked out of Highscool.

Spray painted the school, through sticks at teachers houses and wore pj's in the cafe.

Here is a quote.

Quote:
I'm still a kid; I'm still irresponsible and I want to still be irresponsible sometimes. That's why I'm not sure I'm ready for the NBA
Strange....

Also his work ethic is being questioned all over the place....is he just too lazy?

So there may be a risk of this guy turning into nothing more than Derrick Coleman....loads of talent...but, just kinda a slob.

When a guy says he doesn't think he's ready, he's probably the best judge of that.

Honestly, I don't know what to expect from him. A part of me says he'll be a very solid player. Then another part of me says he's a Corliss Williamson clone. Not bad, but not great either.

like i said in another thread, theres a real chance he could turn in DC (altho DC did average 20/10 his 1st 5 years in the league), which is why alot of teams think Mayo is a safer pick. Ill also go on the line and say DJ has raw skills and more maturity and work ethic that he is the safer pick, altho perhaps not as much an upside.

i didnt see what all the hype is about on beasley. the game against Wisconsin he seemed to give up on plays that didnt turn out in his favor and wouldnt hustle back on defence. and he didnt seem to be that much of a physical presence either. like claudius said, i could see him being another williamson type player. but i've been wrong before. i also thought hinrich wouldnt be much of an nba'er, and i never hear the end of it from one of my buddies.

That was me in university - even in my final year - minus the spray paint (unless you want to substitute the words 'spray paint' and replace with the word 'urinated' - on my way back to residence after a night at the university pub) and replace the word 'sticks' with 'toilet paper'. And I wore PJ's and my robe in the cafe.. so what?

Like it or not, the kid has a TON of skills, and he's going to be a perennial all-star. The problem other than attitude with DC was his motivation. I don't think Beasley has that problem. The kid brings it night in, night out.

Didn't say he was already an all-star, but with his skill set, intangibles and NBA ready body, I feel he will be an all-star

He averages a double double (or nearly one) _ I would say that means he brings it. The knock on him was that he didn't bring it every night when he was in HS, but I haven't heard anything of the sorts since he's been at K-State.

its always hard to judge a freshman from college. Fact is, K-States sched wasnt that strong, he played maybe 3 NBA quality guards that were defending him, and by NBA quality, they were future bench warmers, and probably 1 NBA quality starter. Thats why unless a kid has freak like althetic ability (which Beasley doesnt have) its never a sure shot, he played alot of guys that are just fodder for a decent athlete which his body build, he doesnt leap exceptionally well, he doesnt have an exceptional jump shot and he isnt exceptionally fast, all these things lead me to believe theres a better then not chance he will be an NBA starter, but nowhere near an allstar, JMO

That's your opinion, friend. I think the kid is going to be stellar. Out of the 33 games he played this year, he registered a double double in 28-29 of those games including monster games against Texas and Kansas in back to back games. You don't average 26 and 12 in your FRESHMAN year by just being average. Imagine that - 12 rebounds a game in your freshman year. Not even a guy like DeAndre Jordan (who's touted to be a very solid player himself) averaged that many boards per game. He's going to be top 10-15 in scoring in the league for the next decade (excluding rookie year, of course). Bottom line, this kid is going to be special.

Maybe your definitions differ from mine, but there's a huge difference between "perennial all-star" and stellar.

From what I've seen of Beasley, he's a super talented player who commands a lot of attention from the D, but otherwise doesn't do anything to make his teammates better. He's uber talented but also get a lot of minutes, and he's essentially a 6'10 SF playing against inferior competition.

Much like a guy like Durant (who has an impossible to guard face-up game, which Beasley does not), I think Beasley will take a couple years to adjust to the NBA before really blossoming.

Speaking of Blossom, what ever happened to her? I digress...

Also not too sure about Mayo...dude has to take some of the mustard off the hot dog. So much of his ability is being clouded by flash. It's immaturity right now, he needs to stay in for a bit to develop his game and his attitude toward the game.
