Miami only throwing Marcus Banks Toronto's Way

Well after reading this article about possible trade senarios for Miami, it is apparent that we the toronto Raptors are the only team that mimai is willing throw the bad contract of Marcus Banks. All other trade senatios do not include marcus banks, possibly beucase the salerys dont match except for toronto but i find it unfair that we are the only team they are thinking of trading to where they are thing in his bad contract. I say if we do make a deal we try and not pick up his horrible contract

What are these?
On one hand: It makes sense for both teams, considering the Heat wants a low-post presence and O'Neal - who is owed $23 million next year, the final year of his contract - could provide that with his offense and shot-blocking ability. If healthy, he's among the top low-post players in the league. And the Heat could get something for Marion's expiring $17.8 million contract. The huge bonus for Miami would be if it could include guard Marcus Banks and his $4 million contract that doesn't expire until after the 2011 season.

On the other hand: The Heat has a nice thing going with Marion. It shouldn't disrupt that. If O'Neal isn't healthy, the Heat could miss the playoffs this season, and next year would be shaky. And the Heat wouldn't have much space under the salary cap to add another significant player.

Conclusion: Bad for Miami if O'Neal isn't healthy; good for Miami if he is healthy. Excellent financial deal for Toronto, but it won't win much. This deal leaves the Raptors talent-bare in the middle.

Shawn Marion to Sacramento for Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas

On one hand: Miller would provide the Heat a decent presence in the middle with his offense. He's not much of a defensive player, but he's OK. Thomas would be thrown in so the Kings could dump his salary. Miller's contract expires next season (2009-2010), when he's due $12.2 million; Thomas' contract also expires after next season when it pays him $8.3 million. The Heat doesn't have to extend any contracts past 2010, which is good for the Heat. And Miami gets something for Marion's expiring deal.

On the other hand: Miller has been injured frequently in recent years, and Thomas is marginal. Miami would have a little salary cap room to add a player next season, but not enough space to add a significant player. It would be a struggle to make the playoffs next season.

Conclusion: Sacramento would probably love this trade. Miami would take a step back in terms of talent but it would have money for 2010.

Shawn Marion to New Orleans for Tyson Chandler and others

On one hand: Chandler is a nice fit for the Heat. He brings defense and he's an active offensive player. Depending on the others included, this would seem to be a good deal for Miami.

On the other hand: Chandler earns $11 million next season, which isn't a problem. But he has a player option for $12.7 million in 2010-11, and the Heat doesn't want to take contracts beyond 2010. However, Chandler, who would surely opt in (in other words, stay with the Heat for the $12.7 million) would likely be an exception to that assumed rule.

Conclusion: Excellent deal for Miami. Do it. Not sure New Orleans would be too excited, however. It loses a good low-post player for Marion, who will almost certainly depart via free agency after the season. New Orleans would have free-agency money but nothing to show for Chandler. Let's see who or what else is involved in the trade package.

Shawn Marion to Dallas for package including Josh Howard

On one hand: Howard earns $10.8 million next season (2009-10) and there's a team option for $11.8 million in the 2010-11 season. That's good for Miami because it could choose not to retain Howard and not be obligated for his salary. Miami would get a good scorer at small forward, but Howard would be a defensive drop-off from Marion. Still, it could be good for the Heat both on-court and financially. Dallas gets better this season with Marion (who would likely be rented for a half-season) and gets immediate cap space for free agency with Marion's contract and Jason Kidd's expiring $21 million contract.

On the other hand: Dallas owner Mark Cuban has denied this is legitimate.

Conclusion: Good for Miami. Dallas would probably need more.

Raptors season is done, why would Raptors accept Marcus Banks contract?
Marion is as good as gone after season ends, so we are better dealing JO for AI or Marbury and waive them immediately. No skeletons attached.

Who cares. If you don't waive them then just keep them for a year and play them as well. IDC

The point is Raptors gets rid of JO fat contract which runs one more year and they can sign a FA in summer. It is really about $21 millions for the next season.
Trading for Marion at deadline won't save Raptors season and Marion is gone anyway. Plus Raptors are few inches away from a new JO injury and Raptors will pay big $$$ not only this year but next one for nursing JO knees (hamburgers).

Other option: do not trade JO at all and wait till next season when you can get more as expiring contract.
