Raptors Messina defends Bargnani, slams Colangelo

Through google translate:

Quote:
Messina coach defends Bargnani: "He does not deserve shoveling mud in Toronto"

Rome - (Adnkronos) - For the technical criticisms of the 'magician' by the president and general manager of the Raptors are excessive and unwarranted, "I do not semrba correct, it has always done better every year. I've coached, I know that person is. It has certain technical characteristics, as everyone needs to feel at ease to do their best "
Rome, April 20 - (Adnkronos) -''Bargnani and 'grew from year to year, and' always improved. Did not deserve those piles of mud.'' Canadian criticism to the 'magician' is excessive and unjustified: word coach Ettore Messina. Andrea Bargnani has come under fire by Jerry Colangelo, president and general manager of the Toronto Raptors, after the negative closed season with 22 victories and 60 defeats. The long Roman, the first overall pick in 2006, ended the year with 21.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, often charging the attack on the shoulders of training led by coach Jay Triano. Conference in late season, Bargnani Colangelo called''the enigma of all enigmas''pointing the finger at the player, into a sort of scapegoat.

''It does not seem right,''says Messina, who coached Benetton Treviso to Bargnani. Andrea,''says the coach has always done better every year. I've coached, I know that person '. Has certain technical features, like everyone needs to feel at ease to do their best. Pull his piles of mud on him does not seem quite correct: in addition, we are not talking about a selfless young man. It 's a player who can stay in a dressing room and who knows what a team.''

''I respect the opinions of all and not let me go outside in detailed technical discussions. In principle, however, we are talking about a player growing. Andrea does not play for stats, play for the team but should not be too exciting to be part of a team to 20 wins per season,''says Messina.

The 'magician' is related to the Raptors by a valid contract until 2015. ''I hope that Andrea is adequately reflected environmental and technical, in Toronto at this point it seems difficult to reconcile the relationship. The hope of finding the conditions to do better, and this also blue key,''says Messina.

If Toronto really wants to sell the 25-year old Roman, the first move did not appear bright:''I do not see a genius in terms of communication and marketing, and sprimersi in this way on a player still under contract. Who was general manager of the year twice, one expects something more constructive. If they thought to stimulate Bargnani this was not, however, a great idea ...''.

Messina should get a job anywhere but here, and Bargnani can join him there.

I suspect that all of this Barg hate, and now w/Messina (from several of you on here) is because they're Italian...?!?

Watching NOLA v's LA...whenever Belinelli makes a big basket, cheerleaders run around the sideline with huge Italian flags

Why all this hate for bargs? everyone ..above talent.. Partif success is also being in the best position possible to be successful ...

He's mostlikely staying... And We'll need a true center.. To the Barg haters...you can always watch the Leafs instead!!

Oh give it a rest will ya. Seriously, Bargnani has been given a ton of patience by the fans in this city. But at some point he needs to quit shitting the bed. Have you ever thought that you defend him so much just b/c he's italian. Don't be so sensitive, people turning on him has fuck all to do with his heritage and moreso with his shortcomings as a basketball player and with his overall effort not to mention his stupid comments on how he puts more effort on his offense while not having the stones to improve defensively or get his schnoz the slightest bit dirty. He can go fuck himself whatever nationality he is. Just like Hedo last season......which again had fuck all with where he's from. They're both lazy, therefore fall out of favor here.

Not defensive at all. In fact you sound it.

Your Bargs notion is funny. Every player has his/her shortcomings. Yet you sound adamant on digging deeper hate for one guy cause he's a below par rebounder. Great ..so if we keep him let's go get a rebounding center. Isn't that what team building is about. Fill in the gaps here, upgrade there...

Another thing that's pretty funny about your statement is the notion that it's because they're Italian, yet we're basically defending the guy Messina is ripping.......who's Italian. lol

You're crying racism and i sound defensive? lol

This city has embraced athletes from all over the world, and for you to insinuate that the fans have turned on him b/c he's italian or that we disagree with Messina (a coach many here have wanted for the last couple years) because he's Italian smacks of someone running out of reasons to defend a player b/c his actual play is difficult to defend.

I'm all for filling in the gaps left by our seven-foot centre who can't rebound by trading him the fuck away and upgrading the position.

You're very right.

Get a C? Bargs is the C... No way in hell would I move him to PF and have Davis and Amir behind him, I like them both way more than Bargs. If Bargs wants to come off the bench behind a real C and play 6th man or something, sure I guess, but I'd still rather he just got removed from the team. I see him as a cancer with his lazyness and shit attitude. Hes a big giant sloth, thats it.

I interpreted the article very different ... the slam is on Colangelo for bringing down his own players asset. Not helping his own cause if he intends to trade AB. Those types of comments should be done behind closed doors. Colangelo can be a tool at times ...

I have no issue with his comments on AB ... you don't need to wait to the end of the year to express this shit to the media. Fix it ... that's your damn job.

i have no problem with what BC said about bargs, its obviously the truth that we all know, and if we all know that truth then the scouts from every other team already know that too, he also makes it pretty clear what Bargs is good at

It's also his 'damn job' to not make hasty decisions and put the team in bad situations.... it's not always the perfect time to do something, which is kind of what is being advocated when someone says a guy must go immediately.

5 full years of Andrea makes it hard to see where a decision could be seen as hasty.

Colangelo stated the obvious. Surely he's never going to convince anybody that Bargnani proved himself as a capable defender. At the same time he made excuses as to why that has been the case thus far, and sold Andrea's positive attributes. It's really hard to see where Bryan hurt Andrea's reputation at all. Messina seemed to take it far too personally and looks eager to not hold the guy accountable while blowing his own horn concerning what he was able to get out of Andrea.

The fact that an obvious and fair criticism becomes such an issue signals just how much of a problem this guy represents to this team.
