6'6" PG.

Tall, long agile.

This doesn't excuse Bargnani, but jeepers, Rondo ain't small.

As for Bargnani. So much hate from you guys.

I know a few guys that have spent time with him outside of hoops.... he is, apparently, a VERY nice guy. Just, unfortunately, they say he's just really not all that smart.

So I recommend disliking wat he can do on the floor, but hating him??? Some guys just don't have it upstairs man, don't hate!

Barg isn't a franchise player and not suited to be a number 1 pick, but he is a very gifted basketball player. Drafting him back in 2006 knowing that we have Bosh was a huge mistake, he is not a pure C, that's for sure. He is more of a Dirk Nowitzki type of player.
I wasn't a fan of him in his first 2 years, but he did improve during his 3rd season. Let's not forget that Bosh was our go to guy and how many times Bosh used to get the last ball and messed it up time after time. Barg is not a franchise player but he can be a good second or third option. Also, his contract his very reasonable.
People forgot how Pau Gasol was a great player but never a franchise player in Memphis, but now next to Kobe he is an allstar PF/C... right ?

Just my 2 cents... If we can get David Lee for Barg, I would go for it.

When it comes to Ed Davis? He will runaway from Toronto the moment he gets his first chance. Don't forget, he didn't wanna play for the Raptors to begin with. No point having players who don't wanna be here. This is what I call cancer to the team, not someone like Barg.

Cancer?

I used to say he doesn't want to be here, but as the season went on it seems to me he's enjoying playing here with his teammates imo. He may very well want out when his rookie contract is up, but if we start winning in the next few years and he enjoys playing with his teammates i wouldn't put it past him to sign an extension here, especially depending on what the CBA brings in the way of teams being able to offer a little more money to first time FA's.

The guy didn't even wanna practice and be evaluated by the Raptors, I don't think that all of a sudden he will be a die-hard Torontonian.
I would trade him for a higher draft pick, he is good as gone. Not because of his skills, because of his unwillingness to play in Toronto.

'not really smart'.....I'm not sure about this. Bargs was tested prior to the draft and his basketball IQ and potential was very high. Bargs certainly was on championship teams at every level he played at until now.

Yes Bargs is mediocre on D though he did lead the team in BPG when Bosh was here (though not saying much for that comparison). Now that Bosh is gone and the team changed the style of play Bargs' definicies are highlighted much more. Comparing Bargs to Aldridge in the 09-10 season, Bargs was only grabbing 1.8 rpg less. To say that he's a bust because he doesn't play the game that we'd like now is quite unfair. Though #1 in a week draft and Bargs IMO still shows great potential.

Certainly not making excuses at all but we drafted exactly the player that we wanted - a possible offensive center that shoots 3's and plays on the perimeter to pair with Bosh who at the time the GM thought it would be a good pairing. Should Bargs be hated for not complimenting Bosh or taking so long to adjust to the NBA style of play? Not like the team keeps revamping and changing coaches or styles. And here we go again, we changed styles after Bosh leaves and we are going to do it again this year.

Anyways, everything that I've read and seen says Bargs is a NBA PF not a C so why the team has spent so long trying to make Bargs into something he's not is because we had Bosh and now Davis. Was/is that fair to Bargs or even the team? I wonder how this team would have been with Chandler in the middle and Bargs stretching it out as the PF. A quick center that hustles and rebounds and plays with passion to offset Bargs.

In the end, to me, I agree with Messina, the team has completely misused Bargs and at this point I would trade him because of this, not because the comments of the haters.

a good coach hides your weaknesses, and improves the strengths of a player

maybe we should just get a new coach

Hiding a soft 7-footer is not anything I want to demand of any coach.

Ahhh, bullshit. The Raptors evaluated him in an open practice workout where he was told they'd take him if he was available @ #13, and he then refused workouts in several cities because he didn't think he'd drop out of the top 10.

not sure his reasons were made clear, but you're right they evaluated him at an open workout.... and sometimes scheduling conflicts occur and that is what was referenced when he dropped out of a toronto workout.

There is no truth to Davis not wanting to play in Toronto.... he hasn't expressed his exuberance about playing in Toronto, but he definitely comes across as a more private individual.

I do things which are more complicated than defense and rebounding.
