Default This may sound scary: But What if We trade Bosh??

You might all be thinking that I am an idiot. But allow me to justify with reasoning.

1) It looks like, and it probably will, that the Toronto Raptors will not move on past the first round in the playoffs this season ( heh, if they even do make it). And as stellar as Bosh has been and will be, I think it is totally unfair for him to stay in an organization that sucks dick right now and won't allow him to get anything accomplished. I know its definitely hard to give up a franchise player that you've seen develop, and mature into a basketball phenom, but you also have to give in a little bit, and consider the player's feelings. Bosh have always said that Toronto is a great city to play in and blah blah, but everyone one knows that he isn't speaking truthfully as the Raps aren't accomplishing shit. And his exit from TO at the end of this contract in 2010 will exemplify this. Though this is very very very early in the season (about 1/6 of the games played), but this issue should still be discussed for the future.

2) Bargs, Il Mago, AB, whatever you call him. We have to realize that this guy isn't following the feast or famine proposition anymore. Bargnani has re-emerged and has proven himself to be a decent, consistent player. And again, this is very earlier in the season, and many things will happen down the road, but Bargnani will be able to fill Bosh's spot in the rotation play alongside with JO. In addition, Bosh is valued at a all time high right now in his entire basketball career, and we are definitely going to get some good players if we trade him (don't worry BC isn't close to being a dumbass like Babcock). You also have to recognize that Bosh is such a versatile player that he seems to be a good fit in just about any team (Knicks, Cavs, etc). If we trade Bosh right now, we could easily pick out points and get a solid back-up point guard, and a decent winger or two. And that would pretty much make the Raps a decent all around team.

So what do you say?

If we trade Bosh, we lose our Franchise Player.

Just not gonna happen. What could we possibly bring back in a trade that would make us better without him? Long term or short term? We're talking about an MVP candidate that is about to realize his potential. Forget what anyone is saying, we can offer him the most $ and he's not going anywhere. Nobody turns down a max contract.

I dare say that if we traded him for Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams, we'd have a much more rounded team.

Calderon
Johnson/Parker
Williams/Kapono
Bargnani/Hump
JO/Bargnani

don't fuck with the Raptors. Plus we'd still have ridiculous capspace in 2010, even after resigning Johnson and a defensive C.

If we keep losing like shit then money wouldn't matter to Chris Bosh, or to any player on the Raptors team for that matter.

Still not sure we can win with Bosh as our #1, or at least in the "feed it to him and let him score" #1 mode we have right now. Duncan and KG are amazing defensively and Shaq was so huge that he could establish position low and guarantee double teams, then have Kobe and co. rape teams on the outside for it. I love the guy but Bosh just scores... his closest comparison in game is Shareef Abdur-Rahim really. I guess if we DID have a better coach we could set him up to create doubles and then camp Caldy/Parker/Kapono on the outside to rape teams with them.. but yea... Sam... not going to happen.

As much as i love Chris Bosh. And trust me i do!If Bargnani can prove this season and next season that he can play consistenly and give numbers in and around 16PPG/7RPG/1.5-2blk i honestly wouldn't be against trading Bosh for a couple of starting wing players.

It's a tough call though but.Possibly sign and trade for the Max in 2010 and really shore up the line up for years after that going forward. At the same time if JO stays relativly healthy going into next year BC can do the same with JO instead and Keep Bargs at Centre, Keep Bosh and shore up our wings!

Tough decisions though! BC will have to really have frank Conversations with Bosh before and during next season to gauge what he may want to do in the summer of 2010!

I'm not going to modify my opinions based on what others think. All I'm doing here is offering an opinion, no need to scorn.

Raptors fans are once again overreacting.

I hate to hear what they're going to do and say after Boston blows us out of the water tomorrow afternoon.

Hey, I like this thread. It's always good to go against the grain. What do you think about a trade that sends Bosh to Portland for Aldridge, Roy, Fernandez, and Webster? I don't think Portland would ever do this trade. But, I also don't think anyone is untradeable for the right price.

I do that trade in a heartbeat of a second macs, though Portland wouldn't.

For the record I've been thinking lately about the possibility of Bosh leaving in 2010 and how it wouldn't be the end of the world at all as long as we can sign someone else. I think Bargs by 2010 will probably get something like 12 mil+ if he's as good by then as I think he'll be, so I don't know if we'll have the free cash after signing Bosh to say 20-22 mil to really afford a Joe Johnson type, and frankly, I'm still not sold on Bosh/Bargnani as a frontcourt together being THAT amazing, I think they might be limited defensively. I might be crazy but look at it this way... in 2010 Calderon/Bosh/Bargnani/Kapono will cost like 46 mil together, then we have like 10 mil + the MLE to fill out both our wings and almost the entire bench. Is that team really good enough to win it all? Are we that much better than now? We STILL wouldn't have our wing scorer.

What if we could get Joe Johnson for 17 mil a year or so... pay Bargs his 12... with Calderon and Kapono that brings us to 42 or so. Get a Perkins-like defensive center, could be a cheaper JO, for 7 mil. Up to 49 with our starting core of Calderon, Johnson, Bargs, C, pretty full. With the MLE we'd have say 13 mil to do the rest, which is honestly enough, Boston made a bench with like 7... it's the starting lineup that matters.

To me, Calderon/Johnson/Bargnani/defensive C is better and a lot more rounded than Calderon/Bosh/Bargnani/MLE worthy wings. I'd be genuinely excited to see Caldy Johnson Bargs at once, if Andrea lives up to the potential he's showing lately. I think that's a damn good team.
