Matt Devlin Talks To Dino Nation Blog

Hello Folks

Just wanted to share my latest interview with you all. Talked with Matt Devlin about a number of things including the coverage of the Raptors in the preseason, Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon and a number of other topics:

Thanks James and great interview.

As Matt alluded to with you, the only way that the idea of Bargnani playing the SF is if we improve vastly with our help defense. If not, Bargs will be exposed all season long and be a very big liability.

So is Kaps.

I would rather AB than than have AP start.

Big problems if Parker starts this year, second half of the season last year he couldnt keep anyone in front of him at all, and couldnt shoot on offense. I love AP but he would be much better served playing of the bench.

Anyone know if Kaps can plar SG?

HE would be a little too tall and might not be able to keep up on defense with some of the SG's in the league

Yeah I brought up the fact that if Raptors had not made the addition of O'Neal along with Bosh looking to be an improved defender the Raptors don't even try this.

By the end of preseason we should have a good idea if this is just an experiment or reality.

Matt's main point was though that the main reason behind this move is to help Andrea get his offense together. When you think about it if all 3 are on the floor the match-up for Andrea should always be one he can take advantage of. But still I have major concern about this on Defensive Side of the ball.

Will see It will be something interesting to watch.

Just a note for folks wanting to know a bit more about Matt he actually broadcasts football as well and is going to be covering the Golden Gophers for the Big Ten Television Network. I have told him next time we talk he must explain to me why Michigan SUCKS cause Chuck never did he was a homer for the Blue just like the Raptors.

Bargnani played the best on ball defence on the team last year.

Nice interview but I don't consider Matt Devlin an expert at Raptors basketball, not yet at least. Give him a year or two to figure out the idiosyncrasies of this team and his word will carry more weight. Hopefully his blog will carry some "inside stuff" material this year, I know Chuck's never did.

I can't wait for this season to start and one of the things I'm looking forward to is Devlin calling the game like good 'ol John Saunders used to.
