Mask Gate Again?

Quote:
I look up before the tip and see Hedo fussing with the straps of the mask and then about six minutes in I notice its gone and I figure somethings wrong with the strap and its being fixed.

Then he never wears it again and Im like, oh, oh, this might be an issue.

Says Turk when I asked him:

Its really bothering me because the games Im playing with it, its effecting my shot and my game. Id rather take it off and play without it.

It makes me look bad, and not just from the look. Im not worried about that; I look bad playing, not myself. You keep trying to fix it, it slides. You go into a pick and you get hit and hit covers the face. I make that decision its basketball, you never know, but at least I know Ill feel more comfortable now and try to play without it.

The best thing everyone can hope for today is that when the doctors get a look at him again they find that the tiny fracture has healed well enough to go sans mask. And, believe me, it must be getting a lot better because there would have been a big issue with the staff last night had it not.

For all the masks that players have worn, have you ever seen a worse one?

There is about a 6 inch hanging strap ON THE FRONT and it's always moving.

How about one that fastens on the back?

I feel for the Hedo.

that is a horrible mask but maybe he doesn't want to be fitted for one so they can't give him a proper mask

Agreed LX but I also don't think he played as well as the numbers suggest.

Ye he played alright yesterday but I was talking about the majority of the season, not just last night. Maybe if he can string together consecutive games of good ball then I'll change my opinion. One game aint enough

He hit some big shots and was in the mix. I'm not sure what people expect exactly. I am happy not to have Jamario Moon and Joey Graham in that spot. As long as Hedo paces himself and gets into some kind of shape, mentally and physically by the playoffs, and makes some of those big shots along the way, then I'm happy.

From ESPN Insider:

Quote:
Mask talk getting to Triano

Hedo Turkoglu is supposed to wear a protective mask, but he doesn't like it. The last two games he has worn it to start the game, but has quickly thrown it to the bench.

Raptors head coach Jay Triano normally will accommodate the media, but he's tired of all the mask talk.

"I just want to know if he's playing or not," Triano told the Toronto Sun. "They tried to start that the other day. I just want to know who is playing and I'll try to win games. Don't talk to me about a mask or an ankle or a fever or a cold. Give me a list of the guys who can play, and I'll try to win the game."
Jay going hard core on the media. NICE!

I agree... but the question is..... would you be happier with Sonny in that spot rather than him?

To be perfectly honest I think that I would.

With Weems and Wright in the starting lineup we'd have 2 quick, athletic defenders to focus on playing D while Bargs, Bosh and Jack carry the offense. Both are also good enough to hit the open shot and finish well on the break.

The more that I look at Hedo the more that I think he's more suited to that "instant offense" 6th man role... kind of like what Kukoc used to do for the Bulls.
