I see no need for Lowry to go, unless he is seen as a serious detriment to losing a proper amount of games. He has actually been quite a team player and Demar is definitely improving in this regard as well. With Vasquez backing up Lowry and Patterson joining the big men rotation, this team is actually looking better than before the trade.

But of course, if Ujiri is going into the full tank mode, then Lowry is next and DeRozan might follow suit. In either case, this is definitely a GM who knows what he is doing.

If KL does stay how much do you think will he get paid?

lowry is a ufa at the end of this season. if we don't lock him up (why would he, and how much?) or trade him, he will more than likely walk away for nothing at season's end.

i think that is about as strong a need for someone to go as there is.

I think he'll ask for close to 10, which is too much IMO.

Exactly. And after a game like tonight, I think he must be wondering if he's played his last game as a Rap.

Could be, could be. I will have no problem with Vasquez starting, so long as we get low enough to have a good chance in the lottery - I am in the tank camp, remember?

Seriously, though, I just wanted to give Kyle props were they are due - he has really impressed me this season. And even if we get Wiggins or someone like him in the draft, we'd still need other players to play with the future star, right?

But I definitely agree with "sell high" mentality on Lowry. As far as what he'd command on the market in the summer - you might be surprised. I believe that the purse strings will get even tighter in 2014 and he might not get more than 7-8 mil/year on his next deal.

not so sure, not many teams need a PG right now and they'd need the cap space to sign him. I think there's a good chance we retain him, especially given the extra year we can offer. we may even get a semi-bargain if there is no competition.

They don't need to re-sign him. He's a rental, hence why people are saying to package him with Amir to add some value.

Pacers could use him in their run, Lakers have Blake at PG. Nash won't be back anytime soon.

I'd trade Lowry for the Lakers' first rounder. Though I assume they can't give it away because of the Nash deal.

Ujiri will try to sign him to a new contract. If he can't get it done, he'll move him at the trade deadline. Having Vasquez gives him that flexibility. I think he'll pay him up to 9 mill. Without Gay next year, he has the space to do it.

I don't think he will; there are two potential franchise PGs in this draft close to where we're likely to pick. I don't think he wants anything to do with anyone from the Colangelo era aside from Valanciunas.

Agree with this. I'd entertain giving Vasquez either a 3yr worth between 15-17 mil. Max I would do is 4yr worth between 20-22 mil

Don't expect the Lowry/Hayes/Patterson reunion to be a long one.

Not sure about this. Raps play pretty well without Gay. Might backfire.

it's called a domino effect. KL and/or Amir will be the next to go. MU likes picks and KL is a UFA if he's not resigned.

Of course he is. We will not be caught in no mans land...remember? Not trading him just keeps an expiring contract for nothing except a few more wins. There is no player left to be traded faster on our roster...
