Marion, Stay or Go?

Best case scenario Marion comes in here and averages 16ppg/9rpg and helps us sqeek into playoffs. Ultimately if this were to occur and considering he is the leading rebounder at his position for the last 8 seasons and is a good defender, would you want him to stay here next season and going forward with the Raptors. This is of course if he wants to stay and a reasonable deal can be worked out.

we haven't been able to criticise him fairly yet, I want to wait and see.... people were skeptical about JO at first but I would of love to keep him

Depends entirely on how much we'd have to spend. He's not worth even partially breaking the bank for.

He's a good player to have in the right system. His defensive versatility makes him pretty unique.

Personally, I like him with Bargs and CB4. Both get burned when they have to play help defense on perimeter players. With Marion we've finally got a wing who can defend and take some pressure off of our interior defenders.

Attitude will also play a big role. The thing that I really liked about JO is that he came in with the best possible attitude and gave it his all. Even when it Here's to hoping that shows the same kind of professionalism.

I didn't notice that it said if he works out during the rest of the season. But then - that is waiting and seeing isn't it? This is like a perfect question for Stephane Dion.

Only stay if we get a real good scoring SG in the offseason then our starting 5 will be a lot more balanced.

I voted let go though, I dont think hes the right fit for this team for how we're currently built.

i honestly think it depends on how much money he wants.
in a offensive-styled phoenix team, he put up 22/10...
on a miami team with no PG and second fiddle-type role, he put up 17/10 (roughly)...
so how will he fair in a slowed down half court set with a good PG?
i think he'll put up 18/9 (hopefully), and that demands another look.
is he worth big time bucks - no.
is he worth 8-9 million - yes.
unfortunately, he'll be seeking 11+, and if thats the case, we pass.

I read somwhere, i believe on RealGm that he's be looking for a 3 year 30Million dollar deal. After this season. 10 Million per is probably reasonable for a SF with his skills who would be 34 at the end of that deal.

He seemed really nice at the press conference, but didnt anybody notice him bringing up his stats and how he is getting less shots and wants more and wants to run more etc etc?? I just get a bad vibe from the way he speaks.

Yeah but that was because someone said that his numbers were down in Miami. He was just saying that his shots were down in Miami because Wade was the man in Miami and that it was a different system which didn't allow him to get as many touches.

If he averages 16 and 9, I'd give him 8-9 million a season.

But right now, it's just waaaaay to early to tell.. and you need to know how he meshes with his teammates.

well. why ARENT we running more? Our bigs are pretty fast, it's not like we're running with shaq or yao or even duncan. Marion's rebounding will help us push more as well.

And as for more shots... I dont think he means jumpers. So if his drives and fast break oppurtunities are taking away from anthony parker's fadeaways... I'm fine with it.

The truth is...

If he plays well over the next 27 games he will demand too much for us to keep him...and may not want to sign here anyways.

If he doesn't play well, then we really won't want him anyway will we.
