If we do this deal, we should keep Stackhouse.
Think someone would take Hump for a 2nd rounder? Last edited by Dark Knight; 07-06-2009 at 05:32 PM. |

I think someone SHOULD get hump for a second rounder. I'm surprised it's hard to move him to be honest.
He had a broken bone. That wouldn't scare me off too much as a GM, nothing like other injuries. |

this is just to confusing and to complicated a process to me.
so, we get stackhouse and some other guy from another team for marion and then we drop stackhouse and that leaves us with 2 million and a new player? is that correct? |

Why does Dallas want Marion?
![]() So we sign and trade Marion to Dallas. For how much? Does Marion gets what he wanted money-wise, or less? |

Sounds pretty good.
One option I wondered about is if acquiring a draft pick from this year's draft is possible and if that could somehow work because they don't have contracts yet, right? I don't know if it's realistic but just throwin' it out here. |

not sure about that one mr4th... i assume that, because 1st round picks get guaranteed contracts, if you traded for the rights to a guy you would have to sign him, or at least you would have to take the cap hold if you sent him overseas. and of course, if that contract eats into the cap space we wouldn't have room to sign hedo. don't think it's possible.

Before you even know which player has been drafted, there is usually a cap hold on your salary for the pick. If you were to trade to acquire the rights to an unsigned draft pick, they would still represent a cap hold against your salary until you renounce them, sign them to their actual deal, or trade them. Wouldn't help.

Why wouldn't they keep Marion?
And I think Stack wouldn't even be that bad of a pickup for us... or do we have to renounce him to make space? Kidd/Howard/Marion/Nowitzki/Gortat and Terry as a 6th man is pretty good. |

apparently dallas wants to trade their expiring contracts (damp+stack+wright) for a starting 2-guard which sounds better to me than having to start howard at sg... then again dallas likes to run so marion might fit..

they HAVE to waive stackhouse
even then, if it's true that the moment you go under the cap space (including the cap holds), you lose the MLE. So for us, it makes little sense to do this. |
