Marcus Williams

This deal probably won't be finalized until next week, but when it is it will give the Nets 16 players under contract and almost certainly would spell the end of Marcus Williams' career with the team.
In the 'Zzone

So it looks like Marcus Williams is on the block. If you click on Williams' name you'll be directed to a page which shows how cheap his rookie deal is. Maybe if the Raptors offer Joey Graham the Nets bite. If not that then certainly Joey and a 2nd rounder would seal the deal.

Yes, they just signed Roko but I feel he's more of a combo guard. I think as he matures he will one day become a 2. Williams has the potential to give the Raptors a similar one two punch to that of which they had with TJ and Jose a couple seasons ago.

He still has a lot of potential, for a 3rd string PG, you can't do better.

Kirby 07-20-2008 09:36 AM

I think we may be able to put him at the 2 and have either Roko/Jose at 1. Would that work?
Obviously not full time but to mix it up.

Hi Guys!

I like Marcus, since he is in the league. I like his skill-set and his court vision. His size is also great for a PG and he is a first pass guard. He should/will be an All Star in some years, if he is using is complete upside imo.

With the addition of Roko - I don`T see us going after him and we don`t need him right now.

What I want for him is to get a team which use his skill-set right and a team which I like :dancing:

Bye

I think he'll be pretty good. He's still got another 2 seasons or so until he starts his prime. I think Joey and a 2nd should be okay. But Roko will still be a 2nd-stringer though right?

To Toronto:
Marcus Williams (1.26 million next season)
&
Josh Boone (1.2 million next season)

To New Jersey:
Joey Graham (2.4 million next season)+draft pick

Kirby 07-20-2008 11:10 AM

Insurance. Just in case Roko isn't ready or one of them gets injured. I would love to see Marcus here since Colangelo tried just about everything to get this guy after drafting Bargs.

Acie 07-20-2008 11:15 AM

He was passed up by a lot of teams in the draft and now the Nets want to dump him.

Do the math boys.

You'd be lucky to get Stephen Graham for Joey.

It would be hard enough to do a 2nd+Joey for Williams but adding in Boone won't do it most likely.

The math is that he's cheap! And would be playing 10 minutes a night and some nights wouldn't play at all. He's got some upside and could be an asset if RoKo or god forbid Jose gets hurt.

It says in the article that they would like to do a two for one deal to knock down the roster. So they'd get Graham and also get a draft pick.Who ever they get is going to be a bench player anyway why not Graham?

AC was calling Marcus Williams a moron. I was just responding to that.

Acie 07-20-2008 11:36 AM

Joey Graham despite his lack of spectacular play is a solid locker room presence and one of the most respected players on the team by his peers.

Williams is a shitty player and a moron.

Great Joey is being paid 2.4 million next season to be a good buddy in the locker room and not contribute on the court.Let's keep him>
