Default Marcus Banks

What do you guys expect from Banks this year? He has looked pretty good in the two preseason matches thus far, I think he is ready for a big season. Here are a couple links to my man banks, I didnt realize he could dunk he has got some explosiveness to his game

for a second i thought this thread was going to have something to do with Banks getting a Canadian citizenship or a role with Basketball Canada.

Seriously though, i think it would be great if he could contribute anything at all. It's tough being a third stringer because it's almost guaranteed that he'll get his share of DNPs. Still the time that he does get, i'd just like for there not to be a drop off in overall team play. He just has to e ready when called upon and not try to do too much.

I don't even care about numbers or stats. As a PG, it's his job to have the offense flowing nicely and to give the ball to his teammates. He's more than capable of being a decent 3rd PG.

Maybe if he plays well in the pre-season another team would trade for him.
Either way he's still, at best, the 3rd PG here. I don't see that equating to a 'big year" for the guy. Who knows? Maybe he'll earn some of that dough.

Tough to have a big year when you can't get many minutes. Barring an injury, it will be tough for him to see more than 5 minutes a game.

Douby is a better shooter then Banks, and it's not even close. Douby though, has awful handles, and bad decision making skills.

Actually Douby has decent handles, he just can't finish around the basket as well as Banks.

And Banks is a better defender than Douby. If he plays solid D, can shake the injury bug and get his teammates the ball efficiently, he should have no problem finding a job as a career backup.

I would say Banks is better then Douby in everything except shooting. Douby has some handles but he's too weak to go up strong in the lane.

banks is an athlete, not a basketball player. he has never shown the ability to see plays developing or even create. he has great speed and good size/strength for a point guard, but he doesn't know how to use it past staying in front of his man, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but doesn't mean he's a superb defender. i seriously have a hard time understanding all the attention he's getting from everyone. he's a third string back-up who will be fighting for garbage minutes, garbage minutes that will likely go to the players we're trying to develop.

It's more finding value in an unescapable expenditure Jackson.

For me at least.

So if you have Douby at 800K and Banks at 5 million, at least if he can leap frog douby and give something effective then you're somehow lessening the waste of salary you had to absorb when ya cut ONeal loose.

I don't see why people don't just see that for what it is and leave it at that ya know??

I've always thought he could be a useful player with the Raptors, especially last year without the acquisition of Jack. He gives you something completely different than Jose, which is aggresive in your face defense that initiates turnovers, and that can be a momentum changer when things aren't going right.
That never happens though.

The problem is offensively he takes on, and is allowed to take on a bigger role in the offense than he should be allowed.

I like how he's been pushing the ball in transition thoug

that's not how it works, though. i can't see either playing meaningful minutes any way you look at it, so you're not going to justify a contract in garbage minutes. it's going to come down to scenario. if we're winning by ten plus, maybe banks would be in their to protect the lead. if we're down ten plus, douby might be able to hit a few three pointers. contract won't determine anything. how they practice and how they fill the need on the court will.

had we had a playmaker on the wing like turk, or what beli is being described as (haven't seen it) banks could have helped us last season. my biggest problem with him was that he didn't look like he wanted to be here, though.

I think he might get the nod at 3rd PG over Douby but that's about it. I wish he doesn't get any minutes(meaning all PG's stay healthy)

Do you read my posts?

Sheesh.

I'm saying, and I repeat, that if he is better than Douby, consider it a success because honestly, any quality you can get out of a 5 million dollar player is a positive.
