Default marco belinelli

it's preseason, so it's not much of a measuring stick to how players will perform throughout the season, but is everyone still high on this kid?

i've only caught bits and pieces of the first two games. what i've seen from him has left me far from impressed. i don't see a player who can back up the point, or a player who has the skills to fill a significant role at the two-guard. i know it's way to early to judge since they're tune-up games, but they definitely have meaning towards the rotation once the season is upon us. do you guys still believe he's as advertised?

I think he'll improve. But he needs to stop taking those off balance jump shots like Anthony Parker lol.

Yeah, he doesn't look too comfortable yet but it's all so new for him so we should give him time. He's got some mad skills. That one shot he made while a guy was knocking him backward beneath the basket in the first game was something we don't see too often around here. That was one hell of a finish with contact.

He doesn't look comfortable to me. I've watched him play quite a bit in the past and he doesn't seem like he's playing his game. At the same time he's averaging 11pts and shooting 40% from 3 as usual, and has made some really good passes. He'll be fine and will be one of our best players off the bench. The fact is Jack hasn't impressed me either, and neither has Amir, Jose, Rasho, Douby. All in all, this is gonna take some time for everyone to get acclamated to one another. I know what he can do and he's shown it at times so far, and once he and the other new players continue to play together they will all improve collectively. I guess it's panic time around here? lol

That plus that drive and kick to Jack for the basket was great to see. And that's his game.

Good ... people stars to realize that to be good on papers doesn't translate immediately good on floor. Just give them some time, not only the pre-season but I would say 10 games into season as well. We have way too many new faces to get all of them to play well together in a such short period of time. If by December we are a sub 0.500 team, the talks about trade Bosh will heat up for sure

Brand new system, brand new situation for nine guys on this roster. We are still very much in the feeling out process, guys are trying to find their place on the team, and while theyre all pros, theyre all very much human and its tough not to be timid and conservative in an unfamiliar environment. Finger off the panic button fellas...

Belinelli is better then he's been playing, even though his numbers are good. Just like Jack, and many of the new players are better then what they've shown. At the same time Banks/Weems are probably not as good long term as what they've shown either. It's all relative and it'll be another month before we can really start judging players.

It's very early.
Like most players its just conditioning and timing issues.
Should be expecting a steady improvement each time out during the preseason.
Colangelo says this guy was a crunch time player in Europe - European scouting is something the Raps have.

Bang on.

I just hope to God that people remember this and don't freak out if we're slow out of the gate.

I still believe that this is a very good team but it's going to take some time for everyone to gel.

Maybe we should start a thread about Jack, Jose, Rasho, Douby and a few others that seem off in there play, all after a whole 3 pre season games.

Man, that thread should have been started half way through the first game!

I like belinelli, he's a great passer and finisher but I hate how he takes those off balanced shots, or tries to be too fancy at times and turns it over. He can learn from them at least.

Marco's shot is really nice and I love how he can create for himself. With a player like him coming off the bench we are going to be set during the season. Also we won't have to worry about our bench being outscored any more.

i guess i'll just hope over to the weems thread and start comparing his preseason to play to jamario moon and demar derozan.

C'mon guys. I think he's doing fine, nothing spectacular so far, but he's someone who can definitely contribute throughout the season. His jumpshots looking great, defense is not so bad, very unselfish, and i've seen him take it to the hole 4-5 times so far this pre-season. Marco in my opinion is a mixture of Kapono, Parker, and Douby. Beli'z an asset and nothing less .

Marco had a great game against Washington.

Looks like his form is rounding out.

Yeah he looked good. I think that by the start of the season he and guys like Jack, Jose, Derozan, Bosh will be ready to go. Hedo might have a slow start but overall i'm liking how most are coming along, looks good.

Any word on Wright?
