Marc Stein: Playoffs or not Triano's job still in jeopardy

Quote:
The Raptors currently have a two-game lead over the Bulls for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

However, according to ESPN's Marc Stein, coach Jay Triano's job could be still be in jeopardy this summer even if they make the postseason.

And Marc Stein knows this because BC whispered this to him?

No way MLSE has three head coaches on the payroll next year.

Isn't Mitchell's contract off the books this summer. Didn't he sign a 3yr deal after he won COTY in 2007? If so that conract is done in a few months. As for Triano, he makes apparently 1Mil or so (fuck all) and after this season only has one more year guaranteed because i read somewhere, here if i'm not mistaken that the 3rd year is a Team Option. So buy his ass out for the full amount if necessary and give him his walking papers. Our next coach better have some experience.

Mitchell signed a 4 year deal.

If things start off shakey I can see them possibly replacing him with English or Iavaroni on an interm basis.

4 years?? Fuck me!

I don't want Iavaroni or English at all. I want a guy that has some experience. Enough is enough. Iavaroni has experience, but he sucks. This team has had 1 experienced HC in it's entire history come here to coach. It's time to invest in a real coach.

Not sure how legit this is, but a new experienced NBA coach would be welcomed IMO

How much do coaches usually make? A lot less than the players right? I wouldn't mind Triano sticking around as an assistant.

Triano is apparently making 1Mil/yr with only one guaranteed season left. It would be pretty easy to get rid of him.

BC for Head Coach. He's the only one that knows how to run the team he has created

ya because espn always gets it right, if it was yahoo sports reporting this i would believe because yahoo sports always seems to be the first to break news

majority of the media in the states when they talk about the raps is usually just speculation

just like Vinny was on the hot seat before the playoffs last year, then on the hot seat again this year
MLSE can have 4 coaches on the payroll, they're not paying the coaches top dollar like Phil Jackson and don't count towards the cap
Sam and Triano is like $4 mil combined, less than an MLE player

Mitchell was in the second year of a four-year contract. He was to be paid about $4 million this season and next with some guaranteed money on the final year of the deal he signed after winning the coach of the year honours.

I predict Triano isn't going anywhere ... book it.
