The Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves have already tried to discuss a trade for Pau Gasol with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to sources.

The Lakers are telling teams that they will assess the roster upon the return of Steve Nash.

Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon and Linas Kleiza are amongst the players the Raptors would consider moving for Gasol, according to sources.

The Wolves would love to add Gasol to form a three-man core with Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. David Kahn would build an offer around Derrick Williams and Nikola Pekovic.

The Lakers' number one target is believed to be Ryan Anderson from the Hornets, but is considered untouchable.

i can see it being gasol and duhon still... i dont think they should do it, gasol has bad knees stilll.. we should go after favours it may not help us now but a year or so from now we could have a pretty solid post

If we didn't have valanciunas, I would have taken pekovic, Williams, and ridnour. The raps are offering jose, barg, and kleiza. The lakers would want the Raptors package instead. We just have to wait until February for the deal to get into serious talks. They want to see how Nash fits with Gasol and the extent of his health. Calderon and Bargs can become very valuable for them.

Minnesota can offer more. For starters I garantee Williams is offered. We should do a 3 team Tor/Min/LAL where we get Williams/filler/pick, minnesota gets Gasol and LA gets Bargs/Ocho

We should take Pekovic and Williams for Bargnani and Jose and let Gasol go to Minny, and add in Landry Fields to LA and Kleiza to Minny as well.

We need to offload crappy wings.

if ryan anderson is the Lakers number one target, i'd think Bargs would have to be #2, considering both are bigs who can spread the floor shooting the 3.
obviously, Anderson is the better of the two, but Bargs would fit that style of play just the same.
lets just get this done already. bargs' time is over here. time to start a new chapter.

The timberwolves would be willing to offer derrick Williams (already have love), Luke ridnour (have barrea and shved), and pekovic ( get Gasol) as the article suggests. I think the lakers would be more intrigued by the Raptors package because it addresses their immediate needs: point guard and stretch four. Good thing for us is that we have options. We can help facilitate a Gasol to minny trade and pick up those assets (williams, pekovic, ridnour) or take Gasol. We can also open it up to a four team trade (though unlikely) and send Williams/pekovic for a wing.

I am not really concern with who we get back in return, it's trading away Calderon and Bargs is what I am excited about.. the core of this losing culture.

any one we get probably won't be here long anyway.. and can prolly use them in a package to get more pieces

Bargnani's usefulness has been reduced to Matt Bonner status. He spreads the floor. That's all he gives us.

Oh, and Demar Derozan, who supposedly can't hit the ocean with a boulder, is shooting the same 3pt % this season as the Floor-Spreader. LOL

Bargs would have to be number two behind Anderson, and if Anderson's not available which it looks like unless a third team can blow away the hornets with a prospect and picks, it looks like we're the favourites. We have calderon's expiring which makes it that much more better.

Look how much the stock of Bargnani has dropped. Ryan Anderon > Bargnani plus we are offering the expiring contract of Calderon. We should have traded this stiff years ago at a higher price. I hope he is traded fast, the more prompt the trade, the future will look brighter for this franchise.

I think we'd have one too many players, but we could always make a salary dump in another deal?

I would try Williams at SF and see if it can work, why not we're not going far rigt now.

Roy expires after 2013. He has 5.3 guaranteed for next year.

The only big contracts Minnesota has are Love & AK47. And they aren't dealing them.

Williams/Pekovic/Ridnour only make a combined 13Mil, they'd have to ad to it to make the salaries match.
