Pau Gasol for Andrea Bargnani trade in the works with Raptors and Lakers?: Smith - thestar.com
this is nothing but a rumour, I don't think a 'trade is in the works', more like a trade was attempted and then shut down ...

Especially mine, seeing how I've been pulling for this trade for over a month now. He basically took the ESPN article and changed the title to imply the deal was in the "works," when in fact, they're not going to consider trading him until at least Nash returns as per ESPN.

His contract is reasonable as well.

If we pulled the three team trade where we got Pekovic, Williams, and Ridnour and Minny getting Gasol, there would have to be subsequent moves being made.

Our 4 and 5 spots would have 7 players signed: Williams, Ed, Acy, Amir, Valanciunas, Pekovic, Gray.

We would need to trade about 2 of them away for help in other areas. We would also need to dump Kleiza and Fields to clear up space.

I think the most likely scenario would be a Bargnani, Calderon, and Kleiza for Gasol and D. Morris.

They rejected the trade on the basis that they don't want to entertain any offers for Gasol with Nash out. They apparently promised Nash that they would let him play with Gasol. If he's putting up similar numbers with Nash's return (completely plausible), he's more than likely gone. Calderon would provide some good minutes behind Nash. With Nash's injury/age, Calderon makes a lot of sense.

The Toronto Raptors are the most likely team to acquire Pau Gasol if the Los Angeles Lakers trade him, according to rival executives.

The Raptors would likely build a trade for Gasol centered around Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon.

According to sources, however, Bryan Colangelo has showed no willingness to deal Bargnani.

I'm calling a 3 way trade between Lakers, Wolves, Hornets. Lakers flip Pau for Ryan Anderson (which is the guy they want) and Ridnour to fill the PG minutes, Wolves get Pau for that Nik Pekovic, Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour package, and Hornets trade Anderson for Pekovic and Williams, which makes sense for them because Pekovic fits way better beside Davis than Anderson does as a post up center and that's before the value of the Williams flier.

It all depends on Kahn going all in with that Pek and Williams for Pau trade but it sounds like he's there

I was thinking about that one too. Pekovic would be a good pick up for them.

So why do we want Pau and his contract again?

Why are we giving up Bargs and Calderon for him?

I've been one of Bargs' biggest hater recently because he's been a waste of space on the floor. Don't give me that floor spreading crap. I still however know he can tear it up at any time and get into a zone on both ends. He can be much better than Gasol.

Calderon is a great floor leader off the bench, probably our best bench player. He's huge in the locker room and miles ahead of scrubs like Duhon or Morris. He's great insurance if Lowry goes all out and hurts himself once again. Not too mention he has a very valuable expiring contract.

Why do we want a guy who is owed fuckin' TWENTY MILLION each of the next two seasons and who is also playing his softest basketball ever, most probably because of his horrible knees. The guy is skilled without question, was one of the best....but we're looking to win NOW. He's not even close to 100%. He can only help Jonas so much, I don't think it's worth it at all, it should be mostly about on-court production from him, and I don't see him giving us that much more if at all. Who knows if he can go back to his championship form.

And trust me, I want Bargnani outta here more than anyone right now.
